Because they were nearly burned or asphyxiated to death in a residential building that wasn't fit for purpose.

As for empty properties. If they ain't occupied for at least 80% of the year, tax the f***ers twenty percent of the property value. Homes should be for living in. Not commodities.

And that they weren't meant to be in in the first place.

So are you of the 'serves them right burning to death in a not fit for purpose tower block, they shouldn't have been there in the first place' opinion?

Do grow up.

Loaded questions are a lame tactic even by your feeble standards.

Oh FPS,who is saying that, but why should they be housed before people who are here legally or are British who have no where to live.

Down to the tens of thousands we were promised. Now who said that?

I take your point about their being here illegally, but the amnesty is the right thing to do in these extenuating circumstances.

No it isn't.

They had no business being here and we cannot reward illegality. The wider issue of immigration has nothing to do with it.

Instead of using this tragedy to further your right wing anti immigrant agenda why not look at the deeper issue of the lack of investment in housing stock and the infrastructure that goes with it. (how many houses would a billion odd quid build instead of giving it to the borne from terrorism DUP who would have backed the Tories regardless). Oh s*** we can't build loads of houses without relying on foreign labour to supplement our boys (a bit like in that programme you all loved Auf weidersien pet even though it's the same thing in reverse)

It's not often I share what's written on this site with Mrs Gusset, but I did share a couple of posts from this evening.

Her response 'i don't know why you spend time arguing with those unfeeling b******s'

She may have a point.

Emotion cannot be part of decision making. You, and your wife, need to get off your moral high ground and think rationally. I repeat, they were here as illegal immigrants and that cannot be rewarded.

What a load of bollocks, I have told you before don't assume my political persuasion, and I do agree that more affordable housing needs to be built.
But I did read somewhere that the coalition/Tory governments built more social housing than Blair did in 18 years.
And as for having to use foreign labour, more bollocks the bigger problem is the building materials..im sure some of the builders on here will say something about that.
But like you I sometimes show my other half post on here, and her reaction is roughly like mine but without the swearing...
