Massive thanks to Sunderland, a truly unexpected win against Hull City, which has given us a lifeline.

After getting smashed by city. Both hull and Swansea could of won but now hull need to win both. If Swansea lose either match they can't finish above us.

Swans will not want to lose there and won't know our result but Sunderland have shown today that they are no mugs and with the likes of Defoe could easily hurt them if they sit back.

Whoever's the fittest out of the two we should send them out and play even it's only for 45 minutes.

To say next week is massive is an understatement.

Unless Swansea lose at the Stadium of Sh!te, of course. If the did we would be home and hosed but Hull would still be in the s***. That would be quite fun.

Would not mind SA playing like we're the away side. Invite Hull and hit them on the break...it clearly works away from home (most of the time anyway).

If defoe scores the winner he will be well on his way to winning over the selhurst crowd even before he signs for us!

We are so s*** against the lower sides at home, because we have to control possession, force the game, and we consistently fail. But the Hull game is different - we only need a point, whereas they need all 3. Put the onus on Hull to be creative with the ball and I think we can pick them off, or at the very least don't overcommit and we can grind out a draw.

Keen readers of my posts will know I've mentioned a few times that there's good money to be made betting on the 'relegation bounce' of teams who are down with games still to play. And so it was yesterday; odds of just under 6/1 against Sunderland winning a single game of football were too good to miss. I combined that with wins for Swansea and Man City for a profit of just under £500. Kerr-Ching!!

Sunderland are now liberated, and there's no reason why they shouldn't beat Swansea on Saturday. Swansea winning is by no means certain, but unfortunately a draw may not be great for us either, as defeat by Hull would still leave us in danger of being surpassed by Swansea (and Hull). In that respect yesterday's results were the wrong way round - we needed Everton to win and could then have settled for Hull winning (and me losing my bet).

Interestingly, Paddy Power has us at 17/20 to win next week and Hull at 16/5 (draw is 5/2). I'm not sure I woul bet on us at those odds...

Isn't that true of anyone who makes a winning bet on a football match? Are you anti-gambling then?
