We lost the game following the Sunderland debacle!

We were edged out away at Stoke, but we looked competitive again. I think the Sunderland game was the turning point, and there have been a few interviews with Allardyce and the players where they've mentioned a few 'home truths' being aired after that game.

I am not sure how getting thumped 5-0 can be for the best, especially if we had won we would have guaranteed our survival. But perhaps that is just me.

Well, presumably the premise is that away vs Citeh one loses anyway. But losing 1-0 after a good performance may have produced complacency, I think is the point. I don't necessarily agree with it, but if anyone has the bollocking skills required to produce the bounce-back we need it's Allardyce.

Exactly what I was thinking.
No 'Positives' to be taken from the 5-0 mauling.

Probably not a great way of looking at it but if someone said your going too win away at Liverpool but get battered at City you would bite someones hand off

If we manage stay up and get hammered at Old Trafford as well, we will probably spend more on players than we would have if we'd beaten, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool then went on a good run and finished 9th or 10th. So long term as long as we stay up, maybe.

We're not a shop. And if a player has suitors he'll go without getting fleeting minutes in a match

Indeed. Lukaku will fetch £60m despite ninety minutes of complete and utter s***e on Saturday.
