The opposite is Pardew, who's game plan was to out-score the opposition. I prefer Allardyce's approach - especially in a crucial game.
We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

We have the advantage in that we know exactly how Hull are going to play as they simply have to win, so the onus is on them to attack. All we need to do is sit back, defend, try and hit them on the counter and if we nick a goal then we've got 2 to play with. Surely that's the only dynamic this game can have unless they go one up?
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

Well, ultimately, we should be playing for a clean sheet in every game - but I know what you mean. But we must be looking to win. The fact that a draw is enough should not be in the players' minds otherwise the focus becomes blurred. That's not to say we throw caution to the wind - Hull will attack us at some stage as they have no option, but we mustn't let them take the initiative in the way we often allow the opposition to do so at Selhurst. With our weakened defence if we get pushed back deeper and deeper you know what is going to happen.

Defend, keep possession, play direct to the man upfront, or into safe areas for wingers to run into, don't take risks in possession or dangerous areas, and make Hull work for the ball. Contest everything in our half, close them down in possession and force them into making the pace, and creating space between their midfield and attack, or defence and midfield, that our wingers can exploit. If in doubt, hoof it. The same as we did with Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and with Tottenham (we only lost to a 'freakish' goal).

Hull have to win to have a chance at staying up, lose and they are almost done but a draw still only keeps them within 3 points of Swansea. If a team has to win then they have to attack, this game suits us perfectly. Sit back, soak up pressure and then spring the counter attack. If we can handle them well enough we should come out on top, especially towards the end of the game if its 0-0 still because they'll go all guns blazing.

Swansea result is irrelevant to how they will play against us. They really have to go for the win. This will suit us as they have to come out and play and we can punish them on the counter attack. Crucial that we don't panic early on and get sloppy. Let them come to us and hit them. The more it stays level the more pressure on them, gaps will show and we can strike then. If we do score first then the pressure is really on them, they will up the ante and we could easily finish them off. Major thing is not to concede any sloppy goals early as we would be then under pressure.

If Swansea win v Sunderland, Hull have to beat us or be relegated. That makes them potentially scarily determined but also vulnerable to the counter (which we excel at). I just hope Sunderland somehow scrape a win so we can relax!

With WH in goal and Kelly and DD as c/bs its not dangerous its suicide. We need our attacking players to be at their best or it will be another Burnley and they did not need to win they just hit high balls up to two front men and we could not cope. This will be a tough game they are playing well and it took a very good keeper to stop them last week.

As others have also opined I am of the opinion that we are unable to keep a clean sheet with the current defensive frailties. Hull losing Markovic to injury is a big bonus for us but we need to score ourselves. If Tomkins can return for Sunday that would be another bonus. I believe though that Dann is only 'possible' for the Utd game?
