I wouldn't be upset if we didn't finish in the top half, but I think we should be looking to. If we have Wilf, Benteke and Sakho in our squad, we really won't belong in the bottom half.

The close season is important and a good guide to the season ahead. You could see in the first game against West Brom that the opposition were refreshed and up for it they had 8 points on the board quickly and a good season. Take them away for Alpine fresh air, good rest as well as training, avoid endless friendlies with no meaning except to pick up injuries, no social media and no more being southern 'softies'. Up for it right from the start.

as a season ticket holder, just to win more home games will do for me, a loss away from home is easy to take when I'm not there, I just turn Jeff Stelling off or put my phone down and forget it, but there's nothing worse than the journey home after a lame home defeat

But the journey home after a defeat in the midlands or "Oop north" can be far,far worse.As is the journey home away from home when one has not secured enough points to avoid that dreaded drop.Rest assured, I have had some life-darkening moments travelling back home.

I think there lies the problem, I used to live in Bromley and south norwood, now I'm 50 miles away,,,,it seems like 500 miles on a dark winters night after some of our home performances!!

To establish ourselves as a team we need a few additions which SP & Big Sam will deliver. To really establish the club we need to redevelop the stadium. I'm sure SP has this on his radar

There comes a point when you need to set your sights higher than just avoiding relegation and considering how long we have been up and some of the players we have, that time is now. We have, in my opinion, the best manager we've had since promotion and with a few decent signings don't see any reason why we shouldn't be fighting for 7th-9th. 6 points from Brighton would go some way to helping that objective.

Not good advice sorry. I refer you to Leicester City's Claudio Ranieri 'sights' throughout the 2015-16 season: We should be aiming for 40 points and safety next season, and after that, IF we achieve it, then finishing as high as we can. Better than 11th will be a huge bonus and we won't look silly and shallow for spouting off about achievements we fail to get close to.

Firstly, Leicester were in their second season in the league and it had taken a miraculous run of form to keep them up in their first one, so avoiding relegation was a perfectly reasonably primary objective. We are established and shouldn't have been close to danger this year. Secondly, I disagree with the notion of setting specific point targets and feel that it hinders further progress. Once the players have achieved the target, it is as though they feel that their job is complete and then clock out. Pulis and WBA this season are the ultimate example; reached 40 points at the end of Feb and have since won one of their final 12 games. Thirdly, nobody is talking about public targets. Of course we shouldn't be announcing it but behind closed doors I would be massively surprised if they aren't aiming for the top 10 next season.

Op asks what our 'expectation' is for next season. Yes, the club's ambition should be at least mid-table. My expectation is that this squad should achieve 41 points again next season. Let's ask the question again at the end of the Summer and we know better what our squad is like and what business the other clubs have done. After all the money spent in January I just don't know what the pot is for transfers but I suspect it might be smaller than many on here are expecting.
