This all seems such a long way from the pre-season friendlies when I first started watching Palace. Every year we seemed to play Morton (picking up a "striker" called Per Bartram, I recall). There was the Anglo-Italian which had some decent top-level Italian sides here. Tours like this help show how far Palace have come in status, although I guess we'll do the other lesser sides too.

Perhaps we can do a Portsmouth then and be the second not 'big' club to win it. It must be a huge disappointment to the organisers that they couldn't get Arsenal and had to settle for us instead

I just wish they'd come back out to Cape Town again.
Apparently there was a huge outcry after the 2015 Cape Town Cup because of the milions of Rands it cost the municipality. Oddly I seemed to be a lone voice in thinking it was money well spent so I could see my beloved Palace.

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

This, in my opinion isn't bad at all.

A preseason getting decent exposure, but also better competition against west brom, leicester and liverpool.

I'm sure i heard somewhere that friendlies against clubs in the same league were not allowed, so this is good.

This was once a quality forum....

Ah ,Per Bartram, I saw him score a goal once against the Arsenal at Selhurst Park.He scored the opening goal in a game we went on to lose 5-1 !

Indeed we are, on 19 July at 1330 BST, and it's on Sky. So we've just over six weeks to appoint a manager, sort the player contracts that need sorting and, hopefully, make a couple of signings, before we need to be on the plane to Hong Kong. Doesn't sound like there's a lot of time for navel gazing and arse scratching to me.
