My school boy hero,,,,the Saint, the persuaders, then bond, seemed like the coolest man on the planet to me back in the 70's, only recently read his autobiography, genuinely sad about this!!

RIP

Him and Clint.

Us olduns will have no heroes left soon.

Moore,Ali,Heston,Lennon,Bowie.... When Clint Eastwood goes that's it, we'll be down to the B listers.

Bit of a local boy and lad was our Roger. Born in Stockwell and went to school in Streatham. Not posh, surprisingly. Married and divorced 4 times too

Used to love hearing him being interviewed. Very witty and very self-deprecating.

Yeah I would agree with that totally.

Loved his quote when asked if he did his own stunts,
He said " no but I do my own sex scences".

always a Norwood boy, where ever I live.

Believe it or not, my house is built on the site where his mum used to live.

RIP Rog. A part of my (and doubtless many other HOLers) formative years.

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

Does that make you Ernst S.Blofeld ?

No, he was born in Gdynia on 28 May 1908 which, by an amazing coincidence, is the same date Ian Fleming was born.

Born and raised in south London, you might even say he was ‘one of our own’. So how particularly sad it was to hear about the passing of Sir Roger Moore earlier today.

I had the pleasure of attending An Evening with Sir Roger Moore at a local theatre about six months ago, and thoroughly enjoyed the two hours spent listening to him sharing anecdotes about his life and career. While he may not have been the most talented of performers by his own admission, he still had real presence and a wonderful stage voice even at the age of 89, and I was surprised by how well he was able to impersonate several other actors along with his ability to mimic various accents. By the end of the night, I was left thinking he was probably a better actor than many would have given him credit for.

Although we will all remember him for his TV and film appearances, his humanitarian work was even closer to his heart than his acting career. His kindness and generosity made him an ideal Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, a role he fulfilled with perhaps greater distinction over the past 25 years than any other in his life. As much as he was always the good guy on screen, he was even more so off it.

A true gentleman whose legacy will always live on.

I grew up watching the Saint on Sunday evenings. He was always one of my favourite actors and I enjoyed his interpretation of 007. RIP Roger.
