Just back from work and have picked up on this development. A definite yes to Gary Monk taking over the managerial reins at Palace.

Steve McClarens odds have shortened to 9to1 in Corals.

Experienced, Ex England manager, available?

Couldn't think of many worse.

I am very much of this thinking.

As much as it kills me Willo and Bexleydave, I have to agree with both of you! Monk - no for me as well. Mancini would fantastic but I fear we have "buckley's chance" of securing his services. Gus Hiddink is an excellent coach. Did a fantastic job as Australian Manager and even won an FA cup with Chelsea I think as an interim manager but I think he's happy in "retirement". Who knows who SP will pick.....

Hmmm...so let's hear your explanation for the Leeds debacle then.

Debacle? Monk hugely improved Leeds and the Leeds fans are very happy with him (check Twitter). They went from a bottom half championship team to a team that challenged for promotion this year, although they did fall away at the end.

Before Sam was appointed I thought that Monk might be a good fit but now it is a definite no from me.
I would be disappointed plus I do not think he will attract new players or get Wilf to sign a new contract

Too true, probably puts Moyes out of the running as well.

Dyche for me. Would struggle to keep and attract big name players but for me fits Palace perfectly. Proper old head on you shoulders.

Curly eagles dad, 45 years of Palace. Never ever a dull moment, Oh Happy Days

I think they just ran out steam, and their squad fragilities caught up with them. Not sure it was Monks fault.
I'd hope his learnt from this experience and that with Swansea. If he doesn't come to us, and I'm not saying he should, he will do a fine job elsewhere.
