Lets hope he isn't reading this thread!

I keep thinking of:

'Frank de Boer's a Dutchman and he wears an orange hat'

Haven't thought of any further lines yet!

The short version:

- Dutch teams don't know how to defend
- Dutch managers don't know how to get their teams to defend and can't be bothered to
- De Boer will try and do 'total football', it's the only thing he knows
- Which works if you're Ajax in a league full of micky mouse Dutch outfits, but good luck as one of the lower league prem teams.

On the plus side, he was even more scathing about Dortmund appointing Bosz: he gave de Boer the credit for the Ajax of last season, Bosz is an unknown quantity and WTF do Dortmund think they're doing appointing him? He doubts they know themselves why.

1) this is a massively sweeping over generalisation
2) de Boer spent his entire career as a centre back / sweeper for
Some of the best teams in the world so I suspect he knows a bit about defending

Although Frank will be our first non British boss i think the Dutch are the the most similar race to ourselves. They all speak English will be fine with English culture etc. Hes the nearest thing to an English boss we could find who isnt actually English

I do hope you are not forgetting Lombardo with the help of the mercurial Brolin........

From what I read Frank is very good at organising defences and doesn't just play open football.

Read this article I keep posting: [Link]

Talks about how he's brought through and improved many players:

Jan Vertonghen, Vurnon Anita, Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld, Siem de Jong, Daley Blind, Jasper Cillessen and Arkadiusz Milik: there is a long list of players who De Boer improved at Ajax and sold on for big money.

Includes very good defenders and keepers. I think we're gonna be in good hands. Let's not forget he's a defend by trade.

Link also talks about how Ajax was a mess when he took over, they hadn't won anything in 6 years. He then brought through young players and they went on to win 4 titles.

I think he'll be a perfect fit for where Sam left us and Palaces style.

Hugely excited!

(Sorry if I've bitched at anyone.)

I'd avoid any references to his time at Rangers in that context if I were you

Sounds like one of Lenin/Mao aphorisms to me - can't wait for the Palace Great Leap Forward!

Seriously, does anyone in the club give a toss what we write on HOL, positive or negative? As someone else pointed out, negative opinions are part of being a footbal club supporter (including England...) and long predates the internet. I can remember whole matches with the crowd 'encouraging' Tommy Langley, Tony Cottee and later donkeys with some choice advice from the terraces...

I wasn't sure if it was too silly even for me, but if it made one person laugh then my work here is done!
