Beat me to it. Excellent recommendation with Tuchel:

And how on earth would we lure a guy who's just had 2 successful years with Dortmund to Palace?

I think we should be setting our sights higher than Gary Monk, but let's be realistic.

When a sensible time frame to expect a new manager.

So far we missed out on:

Zabaleta
Defoe
Begovic

Absolutely spot on, I will be devastated if he got the job!

I would rather Trevor Francis back!

The Francis era was as turgid as it was uninspiring. Hodgson - for all his heroics with Fulham and the Europa league - needs to be given a wide berth.

We need someone to take us to the next level, not send us backwards.

How about managing in the world's most successful league alongside the likes of Klopp? Granted I don't see the appointment as being long term but it provides him with the chance to establish himself whilst at the same time the club benefits from his expertise and player contacts.

As much as I'd like a big foreign manager, wages structure and club is not set up for them as yet.
Once ground done then maybe.

Yes there is better than monk for sure. My opinion would be if we cannot get a younger manger with drive and ambition to succeed. Go with Monk, with little Sam no2 (hopefully)

Remember that unproven manager Coppell 😉

Build stability, build strength,

Let's not keep going around in circles.
And to be fair whoever gets the job, will get our support 100%

We didn't miss out on Defoe as Parish said in his recent interview that Allardyce had said his price was too high.

My guess is that they would have discussed transfer targets at the last supper and if Sam had suggested Begovic we would have gone for him

Can we please stop merging all Manager threads? It's impossible to keep track and separate the post that one is interested in from some of the worst drivel I have ever read.

And my guess is further that there is not much appetite for more Adebayor-types looking for a last payday and that would militate against leaving both Zabaleta and Defoe alone. Zabaleta went on a free, but his wages will be an arm and a leg.
