I think he'd be a very good appointment. People seem to be overlooking his achievements that landed him the England job in the first place. I reckon England played its best stuff in recent memory under him and we're unlucky not to get to the latter stages in the France World Cup. Many of the options mentioned play a very defensive dull football (albeit relatively successfully) but I want to be entertained for some portions of the game! Noddles is a Good suggestion.

You're talking about 19 years ago in respect of someone who hasn't done the job for 10 years. Plus, if Hoddle was the slightest bit interested in management he'd have applied for a vacancy before now.

Money attracts players, not who the managers are? Do you think Luka had a clue who Allardyce was before he signed.

Ex England manager, kept Sunderland up months beforehand. Yeh, I reckon he probably had a fair idea who he was...

I don't give a flying what the name of the next manager is or where he comes from; it's totally irrelevant. But a "very good coach" doesn't pick up just seven points away from home. His reputation seems to largely result from his being able to be promoted, relegated and promoted again; I'd prefer to appoint someone who won't be relegated in the first place. There's no evidence that he would attract big names, or more importantly, be able to manage the ones we have. He's a decent manager who's shown, and been rewarded with, loyalty at one club. He's not what we should be looking for in our fifth season.

A newly promoted club like Burnley often struggles (like Palace) to get really good strikers in because of their cost. What Dyche has done is to play to the strengths of his squad. At a minimum, he is a good organiser, tactically astute, and gets his players to give 100% every match. I think he is used to managing without a big budget, and is a 'safe pair of hands'. He knows the PL pretty well. If given the chance, I think he would do well at Palace. Not exciting, but safe.

Hoddle won't be applying nor will he be asked if he's interested in applying, so there really is no point in discussing it anymore because it's never going to happen.

Quite possibly, but we should now be looking for a bit more than that.

We already have a nice set of Crystals at the club, don't need him to bring his own.
