I am obviously hopelessly biased and/or deluded, but I genuinely do not understand why Silva would prefer Watford to us. We have a much better squad, came higher in the league and no matter how well he does he will get sacked at the end of the season. Presumably they offered him vast sums of money, but you'd have thought that there must be some football-related factors as well. All the other candidates that have been mentioned will be a step backwards after Big Sam for me.

It doesn't have to be about money. I don't know whether we have interviewed him but if so I know that it will be heresy to some people but perhaps Parish didn't interview as well as the Watford chairman.

Perhaps Silva thought that there would be less interference in playing matters at Watford or perhaps despite all of the media speculation we didn't actually interview him at all.

I doubt whether we will ever know
