Ah, yes indeed.

Lets not turn this into another "perseus/ theseus" thread and return to the original subject please.

I was chatting to a descendant of Plutarch the other day, and he spoke very highly of ranieri.

It was the hull players out of their depth because of 3 dangerous players out, not forgetting their best 2 sold in January.

And do you not remember them getting the ball in our final third in the 1st half and non stop in the 2nd half until the 3rd goal? The manager can get the team in certain areas, if they're not good enough, what can he do? They were probably worth the same as Benteke to simplify it for you.

Won't stop you or others making negative opinions of potential managers or players after they've gone as possibles for whatever reason.

You and others make it sound like hull didn't bother you which we know isn't the case. Plenty were sh1tting it and lauding Silva. Were you one of them? I bet there are plenty who did and now write him off because 'Parish didn't want him' (had a holiday whilst a competitor nipped in unchanllenged and signed him up).

I think Silva would have been fine, there were others that might have been better and plenty still out there that would worry me (including Monk). I however am hardly qualified to second guess Parish's decisions, and neither are you. What evidence do you have that Parish rated Silva and failed to sign him because he couldn't be bothered? None whatsoever, unless you have some sort of tele-ESP powers you haven't told us about.

I'd like to see how you get on doing his job.

It's not about any of us doing his job. It's not even really about Parish rating Silva or not. Silva's record in the prem meant we should've interviewed him and we didn't. It's about interviewing the man and seeing if the answers satisfy or not. Or does paying Fulham or Burnley £5 mil compo sound more appealing than a meeting? What about Monk whose Swansea, in monk's final games, performed to about 20% of the level hull did at Selhurst, and I'm not exaggerating.

i think he is on his way out of arsenal, just imagine the caliber of players he could bring in, guaranteed top four finish and champions league at selhurst park? worth a punt?

You need to stop smoking that stuff

You don't interview people you know you don't want. If he knew he didn't want him, why would he interview him? Silva's record in the prem included a good-sized bottle job when the chips were down, and if he decided he didn't want to see him based on that (or based on something else he already knew) then that's his judgement to make.

The fact that you think his record in the premiership made him a candidate, or indeed that I thought that (and I did), is neither here nor there.

As far as I know Monk hasn't been appointed or indeed interviewed, but again whether we think he's a candidate isn't relevant. FWIW I would think that if Silva isn't a candidate then a fortiori Monk wouldn't be either, but so what?

And you really have no business intimating that Parish's "laziness" is the issue here.

Well let's just hope that the whole of the fcuking rest of the world stands still whilst the floppy haired one tops up his suntan. We need to get the managerial situation sorted ASAP so that we can get the contractual issues (in and out) done and start our transfer business. If we don't get on with it, December 2017 will look like déjà vu.

Calm down, I don't get the impression he is not the sort of bloke, who goes on holiday and leaves everything behind. In the last week, he has had Allardyce resign and got Zaha to commit to Palace, I expect contact was made with Silvas agent to sound out a deal, maybe got a knock back.

This is where we go round in circles because how do you know you don't want a clearly talented man before you've interviewed him? That starts to ask other questions.

The bottling it stuff is just BS to anyone with a clear head to look at his situation but instead some are looking at it in the old school guts and bluster of English football. Some are conveniently forgetting the shyte situation he had because it doesn't suit us/Parish/us missing out on him or whatever else. That means somebody's judgement or availability meant we left it alone. Maybe Mark Bright couldn't cancel his holiday. Maybe a DOF is more overdue than it ever was rather than an extension.

You make a lot of assumptions based on little facts. We don't know if Silvas agent was approached or not, I expect he was, but too late as Watford had binned their manager a week earlier, so I think had Silva was on his way there.

The only reason for not considering Silva that would bother me is the one that says he "wasn't English". I've mentioned a couple of others at various points but we don't know what went on or why the parties acted as they did. Perhaps the discussion broke down over the phone. Perhaps there was an obvious showstopper. Perhaps Silva acted in poor faith. Perhaps (per Painter) Silva had reached some agreement with Watford before Allardyce had even resigned. I don't know, and neither do you, and so we should give Parish the benefit of the doubt, and our trust and confidence. He has done enough up to now to be treated as acting in the club's interests unless you can conclusively prove otherwise, and you can't.

Gary Monk would be a disaster and would make the darkest of Pardew days not seen that bad. I cannot seriously believe that people are suggesting he should be our manager. What planet are you on??

Have been reading about Mancini, my question is could we afford him and would he suit us being a "smaller club" !!
