I wonder if Wilf was invited to suggest who he would like to see as next club manager. If so, perhaps he might have put in a word for Dougie - the bloke who put him on the springboard to stardom and could yet convert him to the new Ronaldo. IMO, Steve Parish should at least interview Dougie regardless of what happened re his exit to Bolton. Just imagine his level of commitment if he took charge. I don't see any of the aged under-45 candidates (e.g. Monk and Silva) as being able to offer any more than the Scot.

The reason he shouldn't and won't be in contention has nothing whatsoever to do with the manner of his exit from Palace, but everything to do with his managerial record since. Monk and Silva unable "to offer any more" than Freedman? Even Monk's record is a huge improvement on Freedman's; his problem is that, rather like Pardew, he starts like a hare and finishes like an arthritic tortoise.
