What you mean is what she says is not acceptable to left wingers like you. She may have made some unpleasant remarks, of course intended to goad people like you. Did you complain about the taste of remarks made when Thatcher died? No doubt you think left wing hate speech should accepted as "normal".

Try and put your prejudices to one side for a moment.

I have always been on the right, I voted for thatcher in two elections. Nick and I have had numerous arguments and he would probably amused or confused to see me called a lefty.

Whether you're on the left or the right, both self respect and respecting others should not be mutually exclusive. She doesn't want immigrants, fine, calling them cockroaches? Not fine.

I get the hump when people on here keep calling Tories the nasty party. Unfortunately people like you just reinforce their view.

This isn't about whether you support's Katie Hopkins's politics. This is about whether you support the activism that seeks to sack her from every broadcasting job she gets. They attack the advertisers and this is what happens.

I can't stand Diane Abbott but I didn't ring up 'This Week' or anyone else trying to get her sacked because of her racist views against white people or 'culture'.

I believe she represents a demographic and outside of the support of violence no one group in society has the right to silence another group.

I don't support the censorship of politically incorrect commentary.

Fair enough, I'm not too keen on the woman either and certainly am not defending calling immigrants cockroaches. I still stick to my point that the left are very selective in who they criticise, but fully accept that you are not one of them.

Fair enough, my comment was out of anger and perhaps a tad far-fetched, however all you right wingers suggesting I said Katie Hopkins is as bad as Salmen Abedi are clearly twisting my words, taking what I said completely out of context. I think Islamic extremism has its parallels with right-wing extremism. She advocated a 'final solution', pretty poor comment on par with people that advocate Islamic extremism, even you right-wingers can admit surely?!?! Or was Hitler in the right, because he was white?

For her to advocate such a 'solution' is Hitler-esque and deserved nothing more than to be sacked by LBC. A right to free speech is there for all, but for me it is violated when you are endorsing the killing 2.7m people (estimate of muslims in the UK)

I did choke on my cornflakes when I read that.

Anyone who disagrees with an H is automatically a lefty. Fact. End of.

Your connections and conclusions are still far fetched.

Your contention that she endorses the killing of what is probably nearer to three million Muslims is hyperbole and unethical.

If she had endorsed the murder of a group then I'd agree with your conclusion but you have taken a few ill chosen words, 'a final solution'....words that she later changed and concluded from that the wish that she supports Muslims being murdered.

Essentially I view people like you are more of a problem to a balanced democracy than Hopkins. Hopkins isn't supporting the silencing of people, you are.

So you said something ill advised that you would later change.

Maybe we should stop you from commenting publicly.

Maybe we should focus more on the fact she said something plainly objectionable than speculating on taking freedom of speech away from someone who at least owns up if they have gone OTT..

The questions here are, did she actually mean to refer to 'The Final Solution' or was it a figure of speech. Second. Who was she referring to?
I doubt she was referring to all Muslims. More likely, she was referring to Islamic extremists.

Yep I agree she deserved criticism. And it needed changing.

If we have a marketplace of ideas then I'm confident that fairness will always bob to the surface.

What is fairness should always be a debating point.

We don't have freedom of speech in this country. The problem with what she has she said, before changing it (when it became clear that it could be construed as insighting racial hatred) is the nutters who would take her comments at face value.
It's all very well saying she wasn't saying this or that, she was using a tragedy to peddle her right wing rantings and increase her profile.
It's a shame we give people like her a platform to air her views, they add no value.

Should we arrest Corbyn or ensure he is sacked from any job that involves publicly speaking because he once called Irish Republican terrorists 'freedom fighters' and 'political prisoners.'

Should he be allowed a voice because it encourages 'nutters'?

I never said freedom of speech doesn't come with a line....but that line is drawn as thinly as possible in a free society.

I think some of us prefer to draw that line differently depending upon their politics. When it comes to this I don't view it as a left/right issue.

Hopkins or Corbyn or anyone else not pushing murder should be allowed to talk to their demographic.
