The Normandy beaches do provide us with a bit of a glimpse into what those poor sods in the landing craft went through, and their memories should never fade.

No D Day would have meant no Operation Bagration on the Eastern Front, which would have meant the war dragging on even longer than it eventually did.

At least those who died on the beaches died trying to achieve something. A trip to the Menin Gate and spending some time touring the WW1 sites in Flanders is heartbreaking.

Never forget.

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

You have nothing to say about the bravery of those servicemen who fought and died to free Europe of tyranny.

Nice one.

says the queen of sly digs!!!

Brave brave men who fought for us. One imagines that they'd be shocked if they saw the amount of quasi fascism in the uk at the moment.

The sexual tension between you two is palpable. Just get a room and get it over with!

FFS, are you capable of quoting anything accurately?

I said "snide", not "sly". Two totally different words with entirely different meanings. Yes, the comments were snide and demeaned the purpose of the thread, in the same way yours just has and Rumpole's did earlier.

Quit your "quasi fascism" bollocks, a phrase you employ to describe any point of view to the right of Trotsky and get the Kleenex out for Friday morning.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Are you saying that there aren't more with a fascistic attitude then?
