Dunno, however epidemiological studies, such as those based in economic analysis, can demonstrate relationships of significance between two or more related phenomena.

For example, there is no absolute proof that smoking causes lung cancer, however there is an incredibly strong correlation between certain lung cancers, smokers and certain carcinogens, that are present in cigs.

So, yes, you can use an economics based analysis to show strong correlation between different factors that might appear at first to be unrelated.

And yet the left tell us that immigration has nothing to do with pressure on public services, employment and wage levels, community tensions and the reintroduction of TB for that matter.

We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell]

Hang on. There is a big difference between showing a link between smoking and cancer and economic conditions and death. Even where a link could be shown, economic conditions affect a multitude of factors including, for example, a poorer more selective standard of medical care which I would argue could be caused by increased population.
The original claim was that government policy could be shown to cause a stalling in increasing longevity in Britain specifically, implying that the current government would be solely to blame.
I'm yet to see any evidence that to back that up or explain how the multitude of variables could be seperated.

To think that they spent the election campaign telling us that universal free school meals were unaffordable and promising to provide free breakfasts instead – at a paltry 7p a serving. Just weeks later they have abandoned that pledge as they beat a full scale retreat from their own manifesto. How can anyone believe a word they now say?’

PM just tried to quietly bin it on the way out so she can start her holiday free from the election manifesto.

'breakfast means no breakfast'.

Really, because all I hear about is how public services are massively underfunded and overcrowded.

Not really the evidence in both cases is correlational not causal - We just have come to accept that they're the same thing because the correlation between smoking and lung cancer is high - But its never actually been proven to cause the lung cancers explicitly because there are other factors involved and the same cancers can occur from pollution or other environmental factors.

Of course we also see a correlation between a lot of the chemicals in tabbacco and cancer - which helps.

Being poor won't kill you, it just reduces your life expectancy.

I think a bigger connection to being poor and lower life expectancy is related to the increased stress from worrying about money....roof over your head etc etc.

Income insecurity and working your bollocks off to stand still takes years off of you. It's hard to show on a graph unless you look for it.

It's not just the poor of course but over large populations that's the majority.

Basically continued high stress over time will get you....But when the body is young and functioning well it can put up with a heap of abuse and recover.

On holiday or as far away from the country as possible.

Free of their attention-seeking recklessness for a whole week.

Just those 6 wickets will complete my enjoyment..

Not left wing....but 'progressive' left wing yes....If you are patriotic and progressive you are either confused or lying.

You can be left wing and patriotic.

Wtf are you rambling on about? Are you conflating the words progressive and treasonous?
