Wasn't Andy Johnson the highest scoring English striker in the Premier League in 2005ish?

And before anyone says he took a lot of penalties, if we're making an England team up here then it'll need to be able to take pens!

Best ever England Palace XI

GK – Nigel Martyn
LB – Ashley Cole
RB – Nathaniel Clyne
CB – ???
CB – ???

LM – John Salako
CM – Geoff Thomas
CM – Andy Gray
RM – Wilf Zaha

CF – Ian Wight
CF – Johnny Byrne

Manager: Steve Coppell

Any other ideas?!

A rather bizarre line-up. An 'All-Time XI' but actually fielding 9.

What's the point?

It's not as if we have no English centre-halves, in fact there are two at the club now in Dann and Tomkins or if they are not good enough how about Andy Thorn.

I think fielding two of those three is better than sending out nine.

Don't know why you were struggling in centre midfield 'cos those two you picked were England's partnership under Graham Taylor.

No room for Peter Taylor? Move Wilf to the left wing and drop Salako.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

Does John Jacksons cap for the football league count ? Centre backs is a problem, Southgate was a midfielder for us and not sure Mel Blyth ever got a call up

Billy Gilbert & Andy Thorn as CB's maybe?!

You've just named my all time best palace team CB pairing there Kaos, so definitely gets my vote!!

It was said for a couple of years in his prime, Billy Gilbert was the best centre back in the country to not get an international cap

Zaha is Ivory Coast surely, his friendly caps can't count him?
