Good point Jimenez.i forgot about Bergkamps fobia of flying.

Four hour flight to the Ukraine.

Dennis would be shi**ing himself.

I also think that it's all done and we'll see a a press conference on Monday or Tuesday.

hope if the rumours are Frank will retain Sammy Lee as first team coach.

think someone like Dennis Berkamp would be great as Frank's no 2 as he knows the premier league inside out.

I wouldn't say he knows it inside out. He knows it as much as Glenn Hoddle really. When was the last time Bergkamp coached or was even in England for a Prem season? This is why it's vital Sammy Lee et al stay on for at least the short term, which is probaby until someone hires Big Sam and pays up the compo to us.

DB probably has potential though.

I want to see Sammy Lee stay on as much as the next man. But I don't want him to stay on at the detriment of FDB. If FDB has his own team in mind then we have to be open minded about it. Sammy Lee isn't the only brilliant assistant manager/first team coach out there.

I think Dennis knows the prem a fair bit and for what we know may of done some of his badges here as well as in Holland.

I know Dennis has spoken about being a coach at Arsenal one day.

Why not help Frank out in the mean time and continue his coaching education with us.

I don't even think he would fly. I seem to recall the Dutch national team offered for him to get to the USA in 1994 for the World Cup on the QE 2. I think he said that wasn't feasible. *Read that as If Willo's saying it*

Must be an intense fear Bergkamp has. He could have just jacked himself up on vallium or xanax and he'd have been sweet. Works a treat when long hauling.

Don't know what used to happen when Arsenal played in Europe whilst Bergkamp was at the club. Also what used to happen when he played for the Netherlands.

I believe he used to either miss the game or leave early and go by boat / car.

Pretty sure it was widely documented back then, maybe wiki has some details on it...

Yes I know about Bergkamp's aversion to flying, I never needed to resort ti 'Wiki'.

In the current England 21s, there is striker Cauley Woodrow who has a fear of flying but evidently flew out to Poland with the rest of the squad.Clearly there are degrees of "Aversion".

Aviophobia

Bergkamp's nickname is the Non-Flying Dutchman due to his fear of flying. This stemmed from an incident with the Netherlands national team at the 1994 World Cup where the engine of the plane cut out during a flight, prompting a journalist to joke about having a bomb in his bag. Following this incident, Bergkamp decided he would never fly again but did consider seeking psychiatric help:

I've got this problem and I have to live with it. I can't do anything about it, it is a psychological thing and I can't explain it. I have not flown on a plane for two years. The Dutch FA has been sympathetic, so have Arsenal, so far. I am considering psychiatric help. I can't fly. I just freeze. I get panicky. It starts the day before, when I can't sleep.

The condition severely limited his ability to play in away matches in European competitions and to travel with the national team. In some cases, he would travel overland by car or train, but the logistics of some matches were such that he would not travel at all. In the build-up to Arsenal's Champions League match against Olympique Lyonnais in February 2001, Wenger spoke of his concerns for Bergkamp travelling by train and car, because of the exertions involved.

If we're talking about Bergkamp coming to Palace I think the only flying he's likely to be doing is of the porcine variety.
