If Ake has gone for £20 million then the board need to realise times have changed and despite our spend in January they need to dig deep to support the new boss. We all know the squad is thin, not just in 1 or 2 places but potentially in 5 or 6. If we don't back FDB we could find ourselves with a very good manager completely thrown in at the deep end without the tools to do his job.

Whilst you are right the team needs strengthening in a number of positions this is a perennial problem. I think we have to be very careful though by judging this on last season where a fair few players really did under perform early on and as a result we should of been stronger. Hopefully those players will perform better. FDB needs to get the best out of those players. In relation to Sakho we would never of bought him outright than a loan move last season. Unless we off load somebody for big money like Yannick last year, £30 million quoted is beyond the club as other areas of the team particularly up front (min 2 strikers), right back is required. Also his sell on value is an issue. Our only hope is if other clubs are put off by the price tag and we can land him on a loan again at the end of August.

I agree that our squad is paper thin. We need squad players and more then 1 or 2 you are perfectly right. We won't stay injury free all season, in all teams one or 2 mayor players get seriously injured. It is unbelievable money indeed but considering we paid what..14m for PvA and something similar for Schlupp it may is not out of perspective.
Especially back up in attacking positions should be a priority

We can not afford to wait for that can we? Unless Dann/Tompkins is considered good enough with Kelly as back up.

Fans seem to forget it was big Sam who brought him to the club. As a new manager comes in they have new plans. While most fans agree that we should sign him. FDB needs to be confident in the recruits he brings to Palace can play the possession football he desires.

I'd be worried if the new manager couldn't see that's Sakho is worth signing for us. If I was FDB I'd be going hell for leather to get Sakho in, as it would guarantee stage one of his MO is sorted for the next couple of seasons at least.

Parish has all but guaranteed that he won't be joining. Grateful what he helped us achieved but it's time to move on and improve the squad.
