What he actually said was "they spend a lot of money and there is the possibility to do something well with that money", which I'd agree is not quite the same as the headline suggests. But he does go on to say "we will look at one or two signings", which doesn't suggest a spending spree. It not too important what interpretation a copywriter puts on it as we all know what he meant.

I took it to mean that we are planning to invest properly over time, in infrastructure and technology as well as players, but not necessarily that we had £100m to splurge with right now.
