Isn't one of the good things about frank being manager, tgat he should be able to attract more good youth players to the academy.

I refuse to believe that any decent youth set up would be unable to produce players of the level Ward, Kelly, Tompkins let alone Campbell are on. It is not just quality, there is very much a general lack of guts in the game to go with unproven players. And yes, v Gaal proved it at Man U, Koeman at Everton, that is something Dutch coaches will perhaps be a bit more "daring". Originally posted by Bexley Eagle
Most fans would love for us to have a conveyor belt of young exciting talent coming up from the youth set up. In reality the initial post sums it up. Unless the youngster is outstanding at youth level they will not get their chance as the risk is too great. I have watched a fair bit of the u21 games over the last few seasons and hand on heart there isn't any players that are anywhere near the first team. I am happy to be proved wrong and I hope FDB can turn this around so we can have one or two players making it through the grades to the first team - as has been the case in the past.

Not just us at Palace who see this issue: [Link] Interesting to see who gave the most time to youngsters...Sunderland and look what happened to them, yet Southampton, Everton, Man U and Spurs make up the rest of the top 5.
