would be an insult to ward to buy this geezer. ward is good enough for our team, if he needs a payrise he deserves it, hasnt he played more PL games than anybody else? underrated IMHO.

Now that is a different attitude and one I find very odd. I do disagree that Ward is good enough for PL standards, but yes I could be wrong in which case he would keep his place and we have decent back up in Tete, we have an extra squad player and with the money involved it seems not much of a gamble. Agree that ward is one of our most underrated players but more than happy to pick up a RB for peenuts to give competition and back up.

Ward definitely needs proper competition. He hasn't had any for years - maybe his drop in form last season was due to complacency and 'undropability'. Kelly offers very little going forward, a particular problem if Townsend is in front of him and regularly cutting inside. An attacking full back who can offer width would can only benefit Benteke, and at this price is little in the way of a gamble.

Wards been the poorest performer in our 11 for 2 seasons. He just doesn't have the ability to deal with the better players in the league. He is poor positional and covers himself by the fact he is a decent tackler and athletic. But he is constantly beaten for pace or positioning and it affects our wingers when playing out wide because they have to drop back because he isn't good enough. He isn't particularly decent going forward either. I love the guy and think he will remain a valuable squad member. He can do a job as cover and isn't too old so can stay as backup for a while, but the guy is just not good enough, we should have brought someone in on the right when we bought Papa, it is in my opinion the biggest priority in the squad to bring in a decent RB.
