Good luck on your travels big man.

You take part of me with you.

Me too. A great Palace man who reflected Bert Heads attitude to the game and PALACE.

That is very sad news saw Big John playing in late 60s early 70s never forget his goal against Sheffield utd in our 5-1 win. Wins it on halfway line knocking the ball over attacker collects it runs 20 yards with it then hits a 20 yard blooter left footed into far corner. The look of surprise on his face is great pure disbelieve.
It's on the Centenary DVD wonder if someone or the club could get a copy to his family ASAP.

I hardly ever post here but had to on this news - have just come back from holiday !.Different class from a different era.I got to know that John and Tom White used to live in neighbouring flats above a shopping parade just behind the Swan & Sugar Loaf in S.Croydon.I knocked on their door to say hello, autographs etc on a Sunday lunchtime just as they were settling down to lunch with their wives. They must have loved me ! But they couldn't have been nicer.
John and Jacko's heroics in defence against much better teams in the old first division I'm sure have left a lasting impression on Palace fans from that era
