I think it's hard to conclude that Tomkins is better because he hasn't ever really lead the line for us, whereas some easily forget that before Sakho, Dann did it brilliantly for years. Was our main man under Pulis and Pardew.

A player can be loved one minute and slated the next. Dann has been our best centre back for a long time, although he did have a very poor run of form just prior to Sakho coming to the club but then we were terrible as a whole team. He then had a seriuos injury. Someone mentioned in an earlier thread that he should lose the captaincy but Punch is the captain already. Dann shouldn't be captain in my book. With no Sakho in the team, my centre back pairing would be Dann and Tompkins, although we do need to strengthen the defence. However, I would drop Kelly, Delaney or Ward, in that order, before I dropped Dann.

If Dann does fill the captaincy effects his form then hopefully he will say so to our new manager & also an issue for Sammy Lee to talk to the manager about. Perhaps a group discussion between de Boer, Lee, Dann & Puncheon, with honesty vital. As for Dann's form I feel we write off last season and let de Boer start with a 'clean sheet'. Obviously de Boer will see some points in Dann's play (like all the players) that he feels needs changing but lets wait till 2017/18 season starts and as always cheer on the team/players.

Scot Dann was being talk about as the next England centre half not so long ago, and back to full fitness, I still think he could be. All talk of getting rid is rubbish. Very fickle view in my opinion.

Well Wardy is a different position so he will not get dropped,however once Frank sorts us out as a "total football team" his place will be under threat.
