It strikes me as a cheap option for a No. 10.

What's wrong with that if it works for both parties as it leaves us with more of our budget to be spent elsewhere

RLC might turn into a great signing, just hope there's some sort of first option to buy, otherwise we developing for Chelsea gain.

If he has the kind of season that sees Chelsea want him back to replace Kante/Fabregas/Matic or Bakayoko then he'll have had one hell of a season for Palace.

I think a strong season here would mean he's more likely to want to stay than go back to being a bench warmer at Stamford Bridge.

I hope to be proved wrong, but this leaves me underwhelmed.

If he fails, then it will be another shambolic loan from Chelsea like Bamford and Remy.

If he works out, then will go back to Chelsea as a better player with little or no hope of getting him permanently.

It strikes me as a cheap option for a No. 10.

If he fails, yes. Bamford was useless and a terrible idea, Remy is class but fragile and as it turns out a gamble that wasn't worth taking but that couldn't be foreseen. This boy is thought of very highly across the football world, including importantly by Chelsea fans.

Pretty negative mate - if he works out we will have got a very decent player for a season for a fraction of our transfer budget - a budget that should increase the following season as hopefully we wont have to blow the majority in January to stay up.

And yes, he's a cheap option for number 10 but that is the pool we will be fishing in after what happened in January - it was always going to happen. And cheap doesn't necessarily mean bad. This squad needs a few, they wont all be 20 million. Chin up!

Loftus Cheek is an exciting signing in my opinion. My only disappointment is that he is on loan and not permanent.

I struggle to understand how fans can see this as anything other than a positive. He is head and shoulders above any of our youth.

Apparently there is an option to sign him permanent

Think he's a quality player and vital to De Boers system if he does in fact go 4-3-3.

Usually the 3 will include a holding midfielder (Luka), someone roaming in a more creative role (presumably Cabaye) and a box to box midfielder who does a bit of both which I think is exactly the type of player Loftus-Cheek is. Looked very good everytime I've seen him play for Chelsea.

Shame we can't buy him permanantely or at least have a buying option but if he's a part of a Palace team that progresses and is still out of favour by the time his loan spells up, who knows what could happen.

With the amount of cover we need, I think it's inevitable we'll be using our allocated loan spots and also signing some younger, perhaps less known players for cheap as well. Nice to broaden our horizons a bit.

From my recollection of Loftus-Cheek he certainly wasn't box-to-box whilst playing for Chelsea but was probably doing what was asked by his manager. He wasn't spectacular, just got the ball and passed it to teammates not that far away from him.Kept his game simple.

Why do people make such wild assumptions? Who said we have a choice out of Zouma and Loftus-Cheek? People comment as if these are legit choices for the club which is just nuts...really makes no sense to me.

As for Loftus-Cheek 100% good deal for Palace even if he goes back to Chelsea and never returns. If having him on loan helps the club spend its budget in more important positions like CB then great. He can't be any slower than Ledley and is perhaps even better on the ball.

The average age in our center midfield needed to come down. We conceded far too many late goals last season which could be down to a lack of stamina.

Excellent business, and learning from the Sakho experience maybe Parish will add on some kind of option to buy clause if he is a success?

Everything about him fits the bill for a box to box midfielder. Has a fair bit of stamina, good size and can attack and defend. The 4-3-3 Dutch type system isn't that different from a 4-2-3-1 anyway as usually the 2 would be made up of a holding midfielder and another who has license to get forward a bit more. The "creative" one would be the number 10 in the 3 behind the striker. Either way I think he's exactly the type of player we need to add some well needed depth and different options in midfield.
