Rudi so your blaming Parish here by the sounds of it.
Ok you are the Management ,who should we sign before August 12th.?

I'm not outright blaming Parish for this summer because the window isn't over. But too long was spent on RDB, if it's true Frank wanted it agreed sooner. Or did we actually want Pellegrino? I think that could be true.

You just know from from previous history that we won't sign what's required, there'll be some injuries, and we'll, or some, like the 'how could anyone know Souare would have a car crash' excusers will claim we've been unlucky.

Always amused by the 'who would you bring in?' retorts. I'm not in the inner sanctum to see what should be a solid list of quite a few per position, and not just in the five ish positions we need to add to but the whole team, in case Benteke or Townsend or Cabaye or anyone leaves now or in January. Those few people should have scouts, agents and resources having possibilities looked at and ready to have serious approaches made when needed, but not, after a big signing is made, a big panic and a crock coming in, or nobody in the case of 2 defenders last summer.

See my point?

So you prescribe to the Holloway method, buying loads of cheap players hoping some will come good. Didn't work last time, why do you think it will now?
Unless you have proven quality players at our level your going down. We aren't a big club that can drop a youngster in and carry them through with the other quality players in the team. This is the problem the majority of Premier teams have.

I think his point is more around better scouting, which we haven't ever been blessed with. We've spent good money but I'm sure go the prices we've paid for some players we could've easily attracted better and with the right scouting network players equally as good for less. This is the reason we have such a thin squad in my opinion because we've never identified cheaper options who can compete with the first XI. It all comes down to the quality of our scouting and one would hope we can start identifying more efficient targets with a more continental manager.

We're the Arthur over ere!

Not really.
Earlier on you moaned about the signing of the two left sided players,so both of those can play anywhere on the left.
You then talk about covering all eventualities including car crashes and players leaving.
I think you want 5 signings.
By the way Tomkins a defender was signed last summer.
I hope we get Sakho, his signing helped improve the whole team.
So for me Sakho plus one maybe two .

Knew you wouldn't. Not surprised.

'Sakho plus one maybe two?' Have you ever read the bench? Are injuries not going to happen at CPFC next season? No wonder you don't get it.

Oh and Mariappa and Hangeland left before Tomkins came in, so again down 1. And who scouted Tomkins? Bl00dy Hangeland.

Best to give up here.

This exactly sums up why youth does not get a chance. And Milo failed at Anderlecht and was in the obscure Greek league to just state an obvious example of you being wrong. If a youngster is good he is good, the average attitude in the PL is just unbelievable cowardly in not giving youth any chance at all.

As a club we spend big money. We also negotiate as good value for money as we can. But let's buy sh*te so we can announce a signing.

I agree. We don't want to see panic and ill-informed purchases such as Florian Marange, Elliot Grandin, Jimmy Kebe and the great promise Jose Campana to name a few

That seems to be the HOL way along with not spending more that tuppence ha'penny on a player as we don't want to go into Administration again

How long did it take BS to sign Sahko, PVA, Schlupp and Mili? How long? Were they aweful signings? Did quick equal rubbish? Who is the only PL team that hasn't made a signing yet? Did anyone see the CPFC website video of FDB seriously coaching the players at training? I'm a teacher, and you plan a lesson from start to finish and there's nothing more frustrating than when students enter class at various times through the lesson - they'll miss something. Is FBD expected to repeat himself to the new signings when they arrive? Point is, time in pre-season is important for players to gel as a team. Ours is rapisly disappearing. And it doesn't have to take ages to sign the right people as BS and his 4 signings clearly evidenced. Oh, and we should have gone down, and all we want this season is to avoid that same position.

And... FDB came to us as proper coach/manager, and now I'm thinking, is he starting to get p1ssed off like the others? Why, because he wears the mantle of being a very good manager, and now with only a few weeks to go to the start of the season, he still hasn't got his full team to manage! Poor b****** is going to have a bunch of new players to iject into the team with insufficient time to prepare them with the team, then HE WILL GET BLAMED NO DOUBT FOR BEING A SH1T MANAGER! P1ssed off? I think so.

The issue is the window. The fact it closes 2.5 weeks after the season starts is ridiculous.

Comparing summer and January windows is pointless, they are very different

I doubt that one single team will have the same squad on 1st September that they had on 15th August. It is just the way it is.

We haven't even played a friendly yet

the dignified don't even enter in the game

On a short term contract with (relatively) low wages Wilf was a prime target for another club. If a top 6 had come knocking with a decent offer & a good package for Wilf do you honestly think we'd have been able to keep him? Why do you think the club felt it was the right time to get him signed up again? Not rocket science is it.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!
