I'm not going to laud Hennessey as one of the top keepers in the Premier League, but put a rock in front of him and I have enough confidence in him not to gamble on another keeper. Sure if we could pick up a proven, decent Premier League goalie for a sensible price then I'd have no problem with us replacing Wayne, but as you rightly say, none of the rumours we've had so far tick those boxes and could truly be considered a "safe bet".

I'm not convinced there was much to choose between Mandanda and Hennessey either and that didn't turn out well. Either get in a significantly better keeper (unlikely we'll spend the cash IMO) or a decent number 2 that wouldn't be too bothered being number 2 to Hennessey.

After watching the u20s tournament, maybe we should be looking at bringing in Freddie woodman. He might not be ready this season but has potential to be a top goalie. Well other than one of them played in goal for Palace, and the other one could not get on the bench.

The one that couldn't get on the bench started out as first choice, got injured, apparently threw a tantrum when he came back because he was bench warming and then got dropped completely. You make it out he couldn't make the bench entirely based on ability, I have my doubts that was the only factor.

Of course that all assumes he was genuinely injured and didn't just have a fall out with the gaffer from the off.
