If we get chambers for say Ł16M we should be good to go at the back. chambers Dann yaya. Then we got cabbay Luka LC Puncheon Townsend Scluppie VA for wing backs and midfield and Zaha Benti and a crop of youngsters to choose from on the wing. And we just saved Ł30M. Plus another keeper.

Townsend can't be our wing back. He's been skinned countless times in pre season. Need a right footed specialised wing back. We're not in a position to shoehorn a player into a position like Chelsea did.

I don't think Townsend was mooted as a full back, but in tandem with another to patrol that area in defence and to fall back if the other is up. Anyway, don't forget, Townsend is quick and very often just getting a body back is enough. The trick then is not to dive in too quickly, but to hold the position. Papa was an example of just that, getting forward skilfully but then either being caught out of position or diving in too early. But that does make for exciting players who can run the length of the pitch and score. It's either ying or yang, I afraid, never both. Edited by adrian b (01 Aug 2017 12.13pm)
