Reading between the lines from his last interview. He said we can't rely on 12-13 players we need 16-17. I'd say he knows he needs 3-5 more players.

Keeper
RCB
LCB
RWB
Forward

Personally I have to say I think we have problems if we can't get at least 3-4.

Must haves to play his system are RCB and LCB and RWB.

Fact is we need a keeper but do have two that can do a job.
We also have two strikers that can do a job and possibly youth or if necessary move Wilf central.

But playing his 343 system I just don't see us performing without at least a new LCB and RWB.

Tomkins maybe able to play RCB but it'd be crazy not to have another very good replacement if he goes down.

I do think our Wan-Bissaka will be ok as RCB cover but unfortunately I fear this formation isn't suited to Ward.

If Frank feels the same then I can see him being off loaded as I suspect we should be able to get decent money for him.

I would say though, I do love ward.

Personally think we need five but must absolutely sign three.

RCB
LCB
RWB

I Agree with this

our defence isn;t up to how FdB wants to play; keepball play out from The back. I think that our attack/midfield can do it, but we need a new defensive unit. hopefully this can be achieved without buying in 3/4 new faces....

Anyone thought FDB is still unsure who he wants to buy and given he only came 3 weeks ago and we have played one senior game it is not clear still who he wants. Perhaps if we had not wasted 6 weeks brining in a manager we might have had a few decent add-ons to a squad short on back-up. No surprise if we purchase Sakho on transfer deadline day.

The latest makes again me think we wanted Pellegrino and we and Frank have accepted we're both not a bad 2nd. If we were both each other's first choices, why did we wait for Southampton and make sure we announced Frank a day before Southampton? Then there's the possible spin over Frank being keener on Southampton. His agent allegedly rang Parish to say it wasn't true, although no deal was done and we supposedly were keen on each other.

That isn't really our fault if Southampton are bigger than us, but not taking Marco Silva seriously early enough and making too much change to strategy too early and it affecting transfer business might be, especially after Parish and Frank saying that won't happen. That I'll be p1ssed at, and you'll gradually see more being p1ssed with it.

If I were a betting man I'd put money on Silva being sh*te and out on his arse before Christmas.

You'll get long odds on that so making a lot of money won't cost you very much.

...Rudi, better get your tinfoil hat back on, I think the lizards have been messing with your brainwaves.

FdB gave his thoughts on signings thus in most recent presser:
“We still need a quality injection because the Premier League is a tough league and if you want to be a very solid club, you can’t just rely on 13 or 14 first-team players, you need more like 16 or 17. If we want to be a solid club we need to get some extra players.”

So even with press spin on, he is saying he wants a few signings. Like some other posters, I'm also intrigued to see if he will utilise our youth more to fill squad gaps? I hope he does. Surely they can't make a worse contribution than the likes of Remy, Mutch, Adebayor, Grandin, Kebe have since we came up, at considerably less cost.

I think your brain is interfering with your ability to read what I've said. Read the last paragraph where I talk about too much change to strategy.

I did. I also read the rest, and that's what I commented on!

You may have a point, time will tell. As it is, we've only had 1 pre-season game, so I think it's far too early to judge anything. On the other hand, isn't it Frank's whole remit to come in and change our strategy? No better time to start that than pre-season.

I'd hope his fcuking prime directive is to keep us in the PL, anything else will be a bonus.
