Telling people what they want to hear would be an example of playing the game - being a ‘successful’ politician isn’t proof to the contrary - see Tony Blair.

The fact a majority voted for Brexit doesn’t prove anything in relation to Farage’s motives.

He's been the most consistent politician with his EU stance for about a decade. Remember when he was derided by MPs, journalists and attacked by protesters for this stance and even mentioning the word 'immigration'. So 'playing the game' would have been what all the other MPs had done, said nothing, and now a few have some balls to talk about immigration.

You're all so vague. What are his nefarious 'motives' you speak of?

Who is ‘you all’?

I suspect his motives are the same as most; money, fame, influence. His Brexit position and the friends that brings has earned him a stay in a £13k a month mansion in Chelsea for example.. it’s not that hard to understand why that would be attractive.

To me its a bit like being in the forces. When you salute an officer you are saluting the rank not the person.
As much as you might not like the person, you are disrespecting the rank by not saluting,or in this case not attending functions (I cant spell bankwets) or suchlike.
It is the president of the US that is visiting and that is all that matters.
I cant understand what Corbyn is hoping to achieve by addressing a protest rally, it is just so sad that if Labour had even a half decent leader then they would be in power now. It is the equivelent of Labour being given a "walk through" 10 times and still managing to get a 0-0 draw

At least Labour have a leader who is the majority pick of the membership.

He represents the opinion of the majority of their grass roots.

Is that the same nurses profession that now requires a degree to get into?.....What did Labour do to stop that?....taking it away from the reaches of most of the working classes.....the profession that traditionally and historically a working class girl, who had done well academically could rely on to be a step up....now sees the profession as a risky debt ridden investment for them and more a domain for the middle classes......another blow for social mobility.

The leadership of the Labour party stopped making the working classes the centre of their concerns during Blair's years.

The aren't for the 'hard working working classes' anymore than the Tories are......The core MPs of Labour are majority metropolitan and middle class.....more neo liberals than socialist.....apart from the top two who are actually more Marxist and only there because the membership is actually where the real socialists are.

Labour care more about what they consider 'protected classes' than they do about the working class.

But at least their actual leader reflects the views of the majority of their membership.....I'll give them that.

Just under 13 million voted labour, just over 13 million voted tory.
So to lump that many people into "scum" is fine is it.
