Is that publicity actually helpful though, or does it expose his faults rather than build his credentials?

The chasm between the two tribes in the USA is certainly being deepened. You have only to read this thread to understand how and why.

However, even if Trump manages to secure the nomination he will face an uphill battle to regain the White House.

in 2016 his appeal went much wider than just his loyal base and those who sympathise with them. It dissipated in 2020 and whilst memories can fade his continuing tirades, especially against women, mean he is now seen much more clearly than ever he was to begin with.

Who wins in 2024 depends, in my view, much more on who the Democrats choose, if Trump is the Republican candidate. He could win a second bout against Biden, but not against someone else. Which is why I don't expect it to be Biden. DeSantis would be a much stronger choice for the GOP.

You might be right about Biden and DeSantis.....interestingly I think what we are seeing....similar to the GOP....two camps setting up, a pro Biden and 'anyone but Biden' camp. Biden clearly wants to run....personally I think that like Trump he fears persecution if not in power....The 'anyone but Biden' camp can point to someone like Gavin Newson and say he's obviously a lot better.
Then again I quite like Kennedy, who apparently now is running for the Democrat ticket.

Trump seems to be doing well at the moment because the GOP is rallying behind him due to what's happening. Even so, personally I think DeSantis is better for the US.

I would like DeSantis. However I think it's 4 years too early for him.

America has never been so weak under sleepy Joe. He does whatever the Clintons and Obama tells him to do.

Trump is into his mid 70s and is still so full of energy and life.

Who knows...Trump taking all the hits from the media and evil democrats could be the smokescreen for DeSantis to go for it!

I thought the Republicans should have reset after Trump's defeat, now they are stuck with him.

Biden beat him far and square and he will do it again imo.

I enjoyed Biden saying he visited the UK as he didn't trust us.

Who does?.

He wondered if we had a fleet of dreadnoughts waiting to invade. He grossly misunderstood The Riddle of the Sands.

Yep the nomination battles could be more interesting than the actual election itself.

With a lot less ballot harvesting, national security interference, media manipulation and postal voting...
