What does it say about Trump then if the main runners in this "small talent pool" are all achieving higher scores than him in a straight contest? The only poll numbers that look good to Trump are those he invents. All the others look bad.

Isn't it more likely that the Chinese are doing what all the other world leaders do and simply feeding Trump's vanity? Allowing him to appear to have achieved a "win" whilst actually not changing anything is exactly how a skilled diplomatic negotiator would handle a narcissist like Trump.

I'm sure hes terrified.

Time will tell on trump but I think this thread may run to 2024.

Interesting development in North Korea with Trump being the first US president to cross over the demilitarised zone.

Hopeful something positive can come from all these baby steps......You suspect that this is all connected to the Chinese trade talks in some way.

It's connected to nothing other than Trump's ego. He is being played like a hungry fish. The idea of the US President, and leader of the free world, meeting with a despotic tin pot dictator disgusts me. It gives Kim Jong-Un legitimacy and has the potential for great future harm. If all any such dictator has to do in future to secure the personal attention of a POTUS is to start a nuclear programme and fire a few rockets whilst making threatening noises then heaven help us all. Meanwhile Kim's appalling human rights record is ignored.

By all means make diplomatic contact but keep the detail below the radar. Pressure via sanctions backed by the UN and especially China is the way forward.

A POTUS needs to stand above such matters and not get personally involved. The only reason Trump does so is that it looks good to the ignorant masses in his base. This is just reality TV window dressing. It's disgusting theatre. All politicians seek photo opportunities but most have some purpose standing behind them. Not so Trump. Appearance is all that matters to him.

I've played team darts, with some modest successes. This isn't darts. These are real time polls which have shown remarkable steadiness over the last 18 months. Opinion on Trump is obviously divided but it seems solid on both sides so something very significant would be needed to move either. As I cannot imagine anything at all giving those who believe him to be a disaster to change their minds it must be more likely his ratings will get worse, rather than better.

Whilst nothing in politics is ever certain I believe 2020 is for the Democrats to lose. Trump cannot win unless they foul up. So the Dems are on 32, 200 ahead with the darts in their hands. They have at least 6 chances at a double and plenty of skill in those hands.

Yes and Hilary had a double digit lead in the polls so she was throwing from the ladies oche with precision tooled tungsten darts while Trump was in the other bar with brass bombers and no flights.

To continue the analogy Hilary actually won the game. Only the local rules which allow those who come second to still win meant we ended with Trump.

Alongside that there were the Russians opening the doors and allowing the wind to disrupt Hilary's aim whilst she was being bombarded with lies and distractions.

Not so this time. People have wised up, the social media companies are alert to interference and Google is making sure fake news gets downgraded by it's search engine. Lightening won't be striking twice. We now have some real experience of a Trump presidency to base opinions on. Some clearly will continue to be sold snake oil, but not enough. He will fight because he knows he will be indicted just as soon as he is a private citizen again and will likely spend his last days in jail.

Or she was a useless player who couldn’t hit a double if she was throwing hedgehogs.
Trump is 6/4 to win the election and the Nobel Peace prize.
