Erm nope. The only people wanting 'Open Borders' are the Far left of the Democratic party. Trump is playing the Democrats & they are too stupid to see it.
If I was in Pelosi's or Schumers boots I'd actually be arguing for a 'wall' as well, that would completely nullify Trumps main argument.
If the Dems were then too agree to a wall alongside tightening up on visa overstays & chain migration.
They would both have enough credit to meet somewhere in the middle including some sort of amnesty for illegals (excluding the miscreants of course)

Provide some evidence that anyone who actually speaks for the Democratic Party has ever supported "open borders". Not some isolated individual who happens to be a member, but someone involved in actually setting their policy.

My dream is a hemispheric Common Market, with open trade and open borders - Hilary Clinton.

Cory Booker is one just off the top of my head who espouses an 'Open Border' policy & Kamala Harris is also in this camp. Both Democratic presidential candidates so fairly high up the food chain

Yes he was a republican but he wasn't the only one to own slaves.

This person has tracked down some republicans who owned slaves

It is daft to think there were no republicans who owned slaves just as much as saying that every democrat owned slaves.

That people can dream about an ultimate border free world is not the same as that being their actual policy. It's a statement about the direction of travel and not the next stop.

I dream of aa world which is Trump free but accept he will be here for a few months yet.

That's not evidence. Show me quotes where they said such things and not things that others have said they said.

So much of this is misunderstanding at best and wilful distortion at worse.

No he doesn't. He attacks some of the language used in making the fuss.

Whether or not telling US citizens to go back to where they came from is actually racist is both semantics and dependent on the circumstances.

In the context of these circumstances these tweets were both extremely unpleasant and very stupid, even from Trump's own perspective. How will this help him with anyone who isn't already firmly in his pocket?Racist? Arguably, but it' unimportant and to concentrate on it is a blatant attempt at a swerve.

The fuss is about Trump and his lack of decency and not whether his critics react with a perfect use of English.

I dream of a world in which you will accept anything counter to your viewpoint.
Any evidence provided is either dismissed as diversionary or ignored completely.
Now you’re divining meaning into a direct quote.

Of course I am "diving meaning into a direct quote"!

It's what everyone does all the time.

Just because you think it means one thing doesn't mean it does. It's completely clear to me that when someone expresses a dream of the future they don't expect it to happen immediately or at any time soon.

I offer Martin Luther King as my witness.

I too dream of a world in which you will accept anything counter to your viewpoint

And therein lies the problem. It’s completely clear to you because you are convinced of your own infallibility which now apparently extends to defining my viewpoint.
You have no idea on my view despite your self proclaimed omniscience. Here’s an honest offer. You tell me the political party I support and I’ll donate £50 to the charity of your choice.

It's clear to everyone except the deliberately pedantic. It has zilch to do with me being "infallible" or any other kind of personal attribute you wish to throw in my direction. It's just plain old common sense.

No-one could possibly actually expect to achieve "open borders" without significant political and social change all over the world, so it is completely obvious that what she was musing about was a world free of conflict and tension in which people could travel freely. It did not mean that she was proposing to remove US border controls at any time in the foreseeable future. Those that choose to interpret it in that way are just searching for political mud.

I have no idea which party you support and even less interest. If I had to make a guess based on past experience maybe the "Monster Raving Loony" party? My charity is the Alzheimer's Foundation. You can speculate why.

A charity which becomes more important with every passing month for most of us but no, not the MRLP although it’s an intriguing bit of speculation. I reserve my raving lunacy for events occurring on and off the pitch at Selhurst Park.
