Every time this woman sneezes the Democrats panic. She is the darling of the left for her legal judgements but she may ruin her legacy by not standing down from the Supreme Court.

Apparently when Obama was President it was suggested to her that as she had a history of ill heath now would be a good time to retire so he could appoint a younger like minded judge. She cannot be sacked and so far has stubbornly refused to go.

The Democrats greatest fear is that something will happen to her whilst Trump is President, he has already appointed 2 Supreme Court judges which is quite a lot for a 1 term president.

If he gets a 3rd she may go from hero to zero with her followers.

She's testament to how long you can keep ticking over if you have the very best healthcare available. She's had more cancers than a star sign convention.

I won't wish for her passing.

What I will say though is that if she does go while Trump gets to make the decision it could be the end of affirmative action and maybe even a change to Roe v Wade.

The court would be 6-3 in favour of conservatives.

Yes, she's still going, hoping a democrat gets in before the eventuality. It's quite hilarious and disturbing that so much focus is put on abortion rights with regards to SC nominations. Almost like they can't really get anything else done so just focus on non relevant stuff.

Imo.Women should be able to do what they want, so for me it's a non issue.

I agree that a lopsided Supreme Court might not be the best, as is the case with a lopsided anything really. On this issue though, while it's important that abortion remains an option, exactly when it takes place has to factor in. As in, in a fundamental sense another life is involved and to pass that off as a kind of neutral choice that has no impact on others doesn't really do the situation justice.

Everything taken into account, I'd be inclined to leave Roe vs Wade as is (as a minimum 12 week legal right), rather than lurch this way or that with it, on account that any change brings its own problems and will lead to a reaction in the opposite direction.

Well, we disagree on that one.

The US is slowly spiraling to civil discord.

The behaviour of the Democrats since Trump was elected has been to reject his presidency. This stance has consequences down the line that will also be visited upon them. The left and right almost seem to be speaking different languages now.

This didn't start with Trump. I first noticed it with Bush Jnr....but to be fair his second term ended with him being disliked by both parties.

Obama's tenure saw the real opposition and rejection with the tea party. They hated Obama rather than opposed him. That type of opposition....call it activist has grown stronger and stronger.

I didn't think the Democrats would become that party but all it took was Trump and they made the tea party look like amateurs. They took Trump's tactic of making things personal and ran with it themselves.

Whoever wins in 2020 any talk about 'healing' or 'bringing people together' has zero chance of actually working.

The anger on both sides is tangible.

It's an horrendous topic for me to think about....but it's an important one.

A baby has a heartbeat at around six weeks.....I find it hard to justify after that.

There are plenty of considerations....rape, deformity, unwanted pregnancies and unsuitable parents....so on and so forth. I accept that in certain situations it's complicated.

However, when I hear the topic slanted so one way I feel I need to speak up for the life of the unborn child....who is frequently ignored like it's some purely 'feminist' issue. The unborn child isn't biological waste and our system and laws often seem to treat them like that....We were all that unborn child once.

I definitely don't see this issue the same way after we had our boys.....I never really had to think about it before but once I saw that scan, the world changed.
