Right now we can only guess at what Trump's record would look like if he survived the full 8 years but on current performance it doesn't look promising.

You’re using poll data to prove his lack of popularity. All I’m saying is that polls said he was unpopular before the election. He still won. And he probably will again.

I'll modify my previous comment - before America changed radically due to idiocy on immigration US presidents regularly enjoyed high ratings over fifty. That said this should be seen in the light of war time and frequently high tensions in the cold war. However, in the modern era Obama averaged 47.9 and Trump is less popular at a 42.6 current average since the presidency started. That said, with white Americans Trump is more popular and that demographic would have been the much higher majority voting for most presidents of the past. Elections introduce many different considerations not least being who is the opposition candidate and their own relative unpopularity. Add in the increasing impact of the non truth social media as the source of many voters "information" and we face unpredictable situations quite unlike those in the past. Which I think is quite a concern. When a politician shows a consistent 10 point gap between those who approve of him and those who disapprove, yet still can be elected, something doesn't feel right. That says to me that the well of information is being poisoned. It also stresses the vital importance for the Democrats to choose a solid, reliable, trustworthy and likeable character to represent them in a much more collegiate way than in the divisive politics of the recent past.

Ah, but which well? I have no evidence but suspect opinion polls don’t include many trailer parks, rural areas or public housing buildings.

It just proves how our perceptions are so very different these days and how this has resulted in such huge political divisions that we can come to totally opposing conclusions. Here are mine:- Trump, and those who continue to believe he is a benefit to the USA and the world, are not just losers. They are deluded. The Mueller report is very far from lost. It has been temporarily stymied by the DoJ. The truth will always triumph. It just needs time. Brexit is a mistake. As a result we are ALL losers. Not just those who voted against it. Johnson is PM solely because of the weakness of the opposition. They were the one's who lost the election, Johnson didn't win it. People like me told them that well before the start of the campaign. Given sufficient time the cold hard truth will dawn on people just how bad our current political situation really is. Views on the crimes committed by the grooming gangs, and how they should be handled, has been patiently explained several times and need not be repeated. That this is once again misrepresented only raises questions about what the motivation in doing so really is. Given the attitudes currently being debated in these threads, the references to internet memes, the "white" race, it's problems and suggested solutions, etc etc, leads me once again to question how people are forming these odious opinions. Something that the OP also asked and for which I suggested answers. I have little doubt where that odour is coming from and not the slightest worry it might be from my direction.

There's no misrepresenting of this guy and I'll never tire of highlighting why I view him as I do....giving the most serious issue. He's on these boards defending the response of the Police in keeping the rapes of thousands of white working class girls quiet. This wasn't one foolish throwaway comment.....He engaged in a long thread repeatedly defending this position. He said that he himself heard something about this situation twenty years ago. Under a barrage of criticism he later.....later altered this to the Police 'may have made mistakes' that they may learn from. Well, those were positions he defended....long after these services were highly criticised.....and we are still living in a situation where these rapes are continuing on a systematic basis and people similar to this still defending its quietening.
