Our two Left Backs would be comfortable as wing backs but we don't have anyone on the other side. We would have to get two new players in. As for AT. Not a chance, and as a previous contributor has said it would be a waste of his talents,

If we persist with the 343 then Townsend should be contesting to be one of the 3 up front not one of the 4 . We need to buy a RWB if we are playing this way

And we still need a striker

Seems as though Frank sees the squad best suited to 3-4-3 yet needs to go out and buy a load of players to play it and face dilemmas over those who may not suit it.

Sort of agree Dan, but I think he should be moulded slowly into this role and start off as cover rather than used regularly this season.

As for AT, no he cannot possibly play wing back, his defensive positioning is appalling and he just does not have the tenacity to be strong in that position. We are also wasting the talent he has by playing him there.

Rather than spend a fortune on Chambers I would buy a quality player who can play right wing back.

I think chambers will be coming in as Rcb rather than a wingback but I suppose that similar feelings were said at Chelsea, when Moses played there. Wingbacks are specialist positions, you need a good 'engine' to up and down the pitch. I really disappointed we didn't get Trippier when he left Burnley. He would of been perfect. I think he's currently injured at the moment by Moses obubajo of hull plays that wingback role.

Agree, he showed skill and had the guts. Throw him in for pre-season games and he'll be ready for PL. Highly promising and more potential than Ward who has gone backwards the last 2 seasons..

As much as I love Ward. I'd be considering selling him if we can get £5-8m and that covers the fee for GVDW then I think you do the deal. That's then George and Obi-Wan closing out the RWB position at no net cost.

Joel ward would never fetch 5 to 8m. At most you'd get 3m. I've seen your happy to rip up the squad, but with an inexperienced manager of the league. You need as many players with that prem experience.

Don't think he played at all last season.
Steve Bruce signed him for Hull.

He used to play for Brentford, where I thought he was impressive only 23 but as I said he's currently injured.

PVA will be our left wing back next season. Sh*te at defending but fantastic going forward.
