With the way the market is going at present this signing would make sense especially if we can buy at a decent fee. As I see it we have to invest in youth even more so now as these ridiculous fees are banded about. Sure SP has all this in mind as we don't want to see what happened before return!!

Interesting read.... Chambers fee apparently agreed however FdB wants Fosu Mensah instead...

Personally I'd suspect this would then open up the door for loan for him and purchase possibly of Sakho. But who knows!

Would be great to get Fosu Mensah on loan plus Sakho but depending on the terms i.e. No buy back clause I'd probably plum for Chambers bought over Fosu Mensah loan. Unless it meant spending the money saved elsewhere

Ideally, (money being no object!) I would go for both. Chambers would be the best bet at RCB and Mensah best at wing back. But forced to choose I would go for Mensah, as he is quicker and more flexible in the positions he can play. It could be that Frank would go for Mensah and a cheaper option at RCB....? But in any case, its great that Pqlace are being linked with young, top quality players

Could also have a lot to do with the buy back clause that has been rumoured. May as well loan a player for a fraction of the price from Man U if Arsenal want to add low buy back fees for Chambers - meaning he could be off in a season anyway, if he performs.

The selling club can't insist on buying the player back midway through a contract.

He's a really good young player but still wouldn't solve our main defensive issue which is that we need someone experienced to lead the line. As good as Sakho was individually last season, his main contribution was how he raised the game of the defenders around him and we need that again.

Judging by all the highlights of united preseason he's being used as a RWB. If he was to come I'd imagine they'd want him to continue in the same role. Considering its an area we're looking to strengthen I'd say it's a good fit. Would leave money for a potential CB in Chambers, Martins-Indi or a discounted Sakho!

Too true. That's kind of irreplaceable. On the plus side, Luka is a leader and obviously in FdB's plans - but hopefully not for very much longer as CB

Personally I dont much like the idea of us as a premier league side having loan players, developing other teams players is all our risk, with no payback, other than the games he plays for us, if the player does well.
If they are crap Bamford, Remy etc and there are too many of them, ok Sakho was great , but we were in a desperate situation and had to gamble, i would prefer us to buy and develop players, enhancing value
