We definitely need a striker what about a youngster with potential Demarai Gray. Wickham has played less than 30 games in 3 years - far too injury prone.

Not a striker

As said, if Benteke gets inured were screwed. We cant rely on CW to be fit for more than 2-3 games.
An immediate stand in would be Giroud. Fantastic in the air and always scores and is on his way out of the Arse.

Are you having a laugh. Am sure Giroud will jump at the chance to come to Palace and play back up to Benteke. Some fans are getting way above their station.

Of course we need a striker and I'm sure the club are well aware of this. However, so do a number do clubs and getting hold of one that is prepared to start on the bench can't be easy.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I do know how to ask the right questions though....
The point is of course that we don't have any back up plan, at all, up front.

The two youngsters, Wickham (hopefully when fit).
Ruben might be able to fill in.
Unfortunately it will not be Giroud.

It's all a balance though. Yes, if they both get injured, we're screwed. Conversely, if both of them stay fit and firing...we've got two quality strikers worthy of first team football...and we can't really play them both.

Personally I think we need a nippy little striker that runs in behind to offer us something different. Then we're sorted. Still think Wilf will make a cracking striker one day.

As someone else has mentioned, we sold such a player to Newcastle when we didn't have a system to use him. Agreed not proven in the PL - yet!

I can't see us bringing in any front players before the season starts. I think it's more likely that we will go with what we've got and give the youngsters a chance. I'm not saying it's the right thing to do I just think that's what will happen.

What we really need is a versatile winger/forward like arnatovic who recently joined West Ham. We get better quality if we targeted this type rather than an out and out striker. Someone LIKE munir- can play wide but also a option upfront, if Benteke unavailable.

I'm guessing that if the management are in two minds the remaining pre season friendlies will show them whether our youngsters are up to the job or not
