Is the nation short of chickens or summat?

If we import millions of chickens, we'll need to import tons of eggs.

And then there's the farmers, corn merchants all going out of business.

Not to mention the hard working chicken pluckers!

Ah! But which will we import first? The chickens or the eggs?

The egg came before the chicken. What did dinosaurs hatch from?

American Holers, what does chlorine washed chicken taste like?

What do others think. Are we letting standards slip? Will we undermine our own poultry business? Would you eat chlorine washed chicken?

Nick in have a go at the Tories at every opportunity shock.

A paltry effort, or should I say, poultry effort.

I just quickly glanced at the title of this thread after a traditional french lunch of a few glasses of vin rouge.

I thought it read 'chlorine washed children' which is of course a great idea.

I once thought that was what "ethnic cleansing" meant.

You do realise that we drink chlorinated water?

Your constant thread starting to criticise the government wouldn't be quite so tedious if you weren't so transparent. You want a Labour government at all costs regardless of the damage they will do to this country.
That is chickens***.

I think the issue is that in order to trade with the US we could end up in a situation where we have to accept reduced food safety standards than we currently have as part of the EU.

Which is kind of not the point of 'taking back our independence' when it means having our UK trade rules influenced by a foreign national trade body.

i.e. its not OK for the EU to make trade demands on us, but the US, that's fine.

I ain't a perfect world. It's a trade off of benefits v risk.
There are many food products that are subject to this sort of compromise. Levels of safety are set to make a product viable meaning that an element of risk will remain in some cases.

Even the EU has said the process is much more effective at removing salmonella, ergo the U.K. would not necessarily be accepting a lower standard.

Furthermore, if the U.K. does not want to submit to that part of any potential trade deal then it does not have to. That would be part of the negotiation. With the EU, much of that power is removed from the individual nation states.

Before I get accused of being anti EU, I should point out that I was a remainder even though I think the EU is in dire need of large scale reform.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.
