Not yet convinced about the 3-4-3.

The through ball over the top into 'no-man's land' can create a one-on-one situation and if the lone CB makes a mistake? I'd start with a 4-1-4-1, but that's just me.

Why do FdB keep playing Zaha for 90 minutes in every game? Would be good to see us adapt without our star player on show...

No, it's not just you. Playing PL teams in the real world is going to be a whole lot different to pre-season.

I don't like the formation.

Luka should be in midfield, I would love to see Loftus-cheek playing just off Benteke and Townsend put further forward because he got caught out a fair bit today but did look great going forward.

I agree. I'm hoping that some of these preseason positions are just experimental.

Both PvA and Schlupp have had better games. Kirby looked busy when he came on and hit some decent passes. I have a feeling he might be warming the bench this season to add some energy late in games. Ladapo didn't make it on which makes me wonder if FdB really sees him as a viable option.

Not a bad game and another 90mins of Wilf magic

Ladapo will never be a viable option for us in the prem

Good question , he saw what he could do in Asia.

This 3-4-3 thing seems to become a 7-3 thing. The 4 midfielders seem to be part of the defence far too often.

Some of our defenders are vulnerable and thus makes it worse.

I agree we need to make a couple of signings at the back if we're going to have half a chance of making this work in the real world. Shouldn't Milivojevic be part of the midfield four so that he can drop back into defence when required?

Yes he should , he will then also be in a position to use his other skills to the maximum effect on the team in general in all areas.

Sorry if this has been done already, but I just noticed that Metz finished 14th out of 20 in Ligue 1 last season with 43 points. CPFC was of course 14th out of 20 with 41 points. Maybe a draw was "about right"?

(Metz GD was a massive minus 33 though! They only scored 39 vs our 50).

Their fierce rivals (Nancy) were relegated, so there the similarities end. We have to wait another year for that pleasure.
