The last part is definitely true, backpeddling over Freedom of Movement would play well for UKIP. I don't expect Brexit to be easy or clean mind, I doubt that the EU will agree the best division for the UK - they'll look to their own interests.

Waters selection as UKIP leader would see the remaining UKIP MEP's leave the party en masse, and the party taken over by ultra right wing extremists; another version of BNP or EDL. But they wouldn't attract any Tory/Labour supporters, so would be an even smaller fringe group (they wouldn't have enough members to form a "party" in any meaningful sense.

They should just pack it in. They were a one cause protest party that has achieved what it set out to do - largely thanks to Nigel Farage. The rest of their policies are just the same as those of the right wing of the Conservative party. Join that party and campaign for them there if so inclined. How is banning the Burka racist?
Firstly Muslims are not a race. Second, there is a valid argument to ban the burka even if you don't agree with it.

Was UKIP's pledge reasoned or just appealing to prejudice? That is a separate question.
All parties appeal to prejudice in the end. Labour appeal to prejudice against the well off and so on.
It's how politics works. It's about votes first and last.

Quite right, its not racist, its old fashioned religious sectarianism.

I'd be interested to hear on how UKIP regard other issues in which Religion choose to resisrict individual freedoms and rights, and how they'll be campaigning against Catholic and Protestant issues as well.

Other than Farage their leadership has been a farce and they don't have the kind of political unity among members seen in say the Scottish Nationalist Party (basically an alternative to the Scotish Labour Party with a Nationalist agenda). The point of UKIP was realised....Perhaps Nick and people with similar views may be enjoying their bumping along the bottom but for most of us UKIP was always a one policy party. UKIP was a force amongst Labour voters as well as Tory ones. If Brexit turns into...not really Brexit at all...and the country doesn't have immigration control then UKIP could come back just as quickly as it disappeared. The point of UKIP was realised....Perhaps Nick and people with similar views may be enjoying their bumping along the bottom but for most of us UKIP was always a one policy party. UKIP was a force amongst Labour voters as well as Tory ones.

If Brexit turns into...not really Brexit at all...and the country doesn't have immigration control then UKIP could come back just as quickly as it disappeared.
