Indeed we were and I agree with the club's stance.

Because it doesn't line-up with the rest of the European leagues, so they could still purchase players after our 'Window' is shut and clubs in the PL would simply not be able to replace them.

In countries like France, Spain and Italy, the window will remain the same but without the threat of an English club buying their player mid-season. Foreign clubs will still be able to buy from English teams until their respective window closes and the elite leagues will have some 3 weeks where they can purchase players from us but we cannot purchase players from them.Clubs from Europe will know English clubs will be desperate to sign players as our deadline approaches but these clubs know that if this doesn't suit them they always have their own leagues to fall back on as their 'Window' will remain open after ours has closed.English clubs might have to pay inflated prices for players as they might be aware they could lose them to clubs in Europe.

I understand the counter-arguments but on-balance I have sided on the decision taken by our club.

Yes, in theory clubs are not forced to sell but other factors enter the equation of course financially and otherwise so clubs could lose a player without having the opportunity to buy a replacement.

Next season of course, our 'Window' will be open whilst the World Cup is in progress which might hamper the ability of our clubs to sign the top players.

It's the poor planning, scouting and everything else Parish needs to address rather than relying on a few leftovers in August. Oh we got in freedman. It's all okay. He may know Britain but Europe? What contacts does he have there and what contacts do we have in South America?
