He went almost a year without winning in the league what was his record when fired something like 36 games without a win in the league.

I never said he didn't deserve to get the sack, just he deserves a bit more respect.

I'm stunned that some still believe we would of stayed up with him and shouldn't of sacked him... Off the top of my head was it 4 wins in 36 games?.... That tells you everything you need to know about why we had to get rid.

The FA Cup final only masked what a complete disaster he was becoming.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Most managers that have been sacked would claim they would have kept their club up etc.

Overall I think it was a well considered piece by AP.

He has to take responsibility for not having cover at left back.

And I certainly believe we would now be in the Championship if he hadn't been sacked.

But he must be intrigued to know how FDB is going to succeed where he failed at playing more '' expansive '' football.

As am I !

His arrogance about the situation is very irritating. There were some very good times and I'm sure all Palace fans wanted it to work out, but he should have resigned after the Swansea game and continuing to pretend he would have sorted it out is embarrassing. Having said that, he'll be a good pundit, just hope he doesn't cover any of our games. Watching him analyse our defence may lead to broken TV's over the course of the season.

I would not have sacked him and I feel he would have kept Eagles up.

Difficult to see the logic of hiring De Boers who apparently will be turning to 'total' or entertaining which is what Pards is accused of.

Defence is the key in my opinion and Pulis and Allardyce were successful here.

The Dutch ladies who won the ladies euros last week saved 4 goals from England and Denmark by having defenders on the goal line.

Thank god you aren't running the club. We would of gone down if he stayed or not.

Said it when he was managing us and whilst supporting him.

He seems to me to be a motivational manager i.e. he'll get the guys up for games. But that means once you hit a rough patch he doesn't really have anything else in his locker.

Do not and never have thought of him as a coach.

Probably wrong but has always been my view.

Not surprised to hear him claim he'd have done the same in Jan. Would he really..? Three quality signings, I doubt very much he'd have got any of those players in.

A couple of Pardew gems in there, he would of kept us up ... and he would of done the same as SA in the Jan transfer window..

We were dead and buried xmas 16 with 4 wins in the whole year , the team were totally unfit , the coaching staff were a complete joke. Pardew was clueless and he passed this onto the team.

FDB and his team with Sl on his side are a whole new level, it won't be plain sailing but it won't be the shambles Pardew and his staff left behind.

Right on the money. The guy was shot.

Nice use of 'we' and 'us' when describing terrible shortcomings

I like how he keeps referring to "we" and "us".

No mate, it was "I" and "me" that cocked it up.

It's a pity his ego forced him to chuck in the nonsense about what would have happened if he had stayed because it was an otherwise pretty good piece.

As much as he might like to pinpoint an event outside his control, Souare's injury, as the primary reason for our terrible form and therefore exonerating himself from psrt of the blame, it was in fact only one piece of that particular jigsaw.

As far as I'm concerned the main problem was that he clearly wasn't training the team properly which led to a complete lack of fitness and defensive organisation, both of which resulted in us shipping a lot of late goals.

Anyway, he's gone now and though I'm grateful for the first 12 months and the cup run, thank God he's not in charge anymore.

Surely it's the most extravagant exaggeration of the last hundred million years?
