I do have fear for tomorrow to be honest. Not for the result so much but more the reaction afterwards. For me, if this transition does end up succeeding which it of course may or may not, the end result will mean less of the Liverpool/Chelsea away wins and more wins against teams in and around us. A more stable approach (and rightly so). And I think Frank will rightly stick to 3 until we get it right, I think people will believe it's stubborn and naive but at the end of the day he was hired on the basis of doing what he believes will eventually be successful, if it doesn't work out it doesn't work out but if he just all of a sudden decides "actually 3-4-3 is bollocks because we lost a couple and the HOL said it is" then I'd personally question his conviction and strength of character.

The problem is the reaction in the stands if we lose 2 on the trot will be so toxic that it'll probably undermine the entire team when they come to Selhurst. No good having players shying away from the ball etc and not wanting to play in fear of being booed, it will literally only be fans cutting their noses to spite their face but sadly the atmosphere brewing already this season is such that I think it's an inevitability if we lose tomorrow.

Think I will sit back and watch without engaging too much in the toxicity until at least October if things don't go our way tomorrow, can imagine it'll start getting pretty ugly after some of the knee jerk comments and reactions made this week!

A more stable approach would be to play a system that we are used to and gradually bring in the 3-4-3, with a couple of transfer windows, friendly and Cup games. That would be sensible not oh well let's hope it works and screw up games in the process. That's ridiculous in my opinion.

I don't see it like that at all. I see it as his belief is 3-4-3 means we can defend with a back 5 rather than the 4 that he played with at better teams in Ajax and Inter. I'm sure a lot more thought has gone into it than "oh well let's hope it works and screw up games in the process", whether he's enemy number one to you or not. Appreciate I'm in the minority to attempt to defend anything that is being tried at the moment but I do think a lot of these reactions really lack imagination and people do need to somehow learn to get some form of a grip this early on.

FDB deserves a lot more respect than he's actually getting from the HOL sample of our fan base at the moment.

Such ridiculous overeactions after only one game are absurd.

Agree. I had to put a fan in his place on Instagram who commented on his picture thanking the fans after Huddersfield "EITHER PLAY 4 AT THE BACK OR f*** OFF, SERIOUSLY SICK OF c***S LIKE YOU AND PARISH RUINING THE CLUB". Was a full grown man as well, the melt. Some of it has been utterly pathetic in my opinion and being a Palace fan your exposed to some of the ugly in the support throughout your time being a fan but seen a side in the last week or so I've never really seen before at Palace, like you said just a complete lack of respect. Embarrassing really

My reaction was actually to you comment

"if it doesn't work out it doesn't work out"

If we go down I strongly believe we will keep going down, the gamble is too much to try and drasticly change things.

I hope I'm wrong and I hope it works out.

The point of the post was nobody knows yet and coming to such drastic conclusions after 2 games would be silly. There is no point creating a witch hunt at the second game of the season at Selhurst because it will make things 10 times worse, especially in a system that rightly or wrongly is trying to encourage players to be brave and confident on the ball, it will only make it worse. That's more where I was coming from when I said if it doesn't work out it doesn't work out, we need to get behind the team right now because deeming this a failure already is essentially digging our own grave when no one can be 100% sure of what the outcome will be. I can't believe I'm really having to try and encourage the "best fans in England" to get behind the team after 2 competitive games in a season. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, to slate the manager and start creating a negative and toxic atmosphere after 2 games is a completely different matter, at least let it fail first. That is the part that concerns me above anything else

I honestly believe we will get a result. People are under-estimating just how bad Liverpool are at the back. Their defending against Watford was shocking.

We will see a reaction from last week. This game will suit us. We will have less possession, Liverpool will throw lots of bodies forward, and leave a lot of space in behind for the counter-attack.

Several times over the past few years we've responded immediately to poor home performances with strong showings away.

The players will be up for this. It's backs-to-the-wall stuff again but that will suit us. I'm predicting 3 points!

As I said in a previous post I don't boo at games, I only support.

Perhaps the manager should play a style of football that suits us and give the fans something to cheer about. We've gone through too much crap, in every season previous to this one in the premier league.

Not you specifically. Just my thoughts in general at the moment. Let's wait and see if he can bring some cheer before getting on his and the teams back - we've played one game and if we lose tomorrow it'll be 2. Its not the end of Crystal Palace FC just yet. Like you said we've been through a hell of a lot worse

Unfortunately the drugs you've taken will have worn off by 4.45pm tomorrow afternoon.
