If this is the best squad we have ever had .
Our 5th season in the prem.
The investment the biggest we've ever had.
Wilfred signed a new deal.
In my opinion this is the best squad we have ever had and if FDB can get us playing like AJAX and we have a decent season .
Be positive be bold.

I have to agree with you on that as that team was good and have many memories of them playing their hearts out.

First match I went to was Palace v Brighton and Hove Albion, 23 September 1950. The score was 2-0 to Brighton in Division Three (South) The attendance was 17,800 My uncle took me and even though we lost I was hooked on Palace and have been ever since. Mind you since then we have had a few good teams but also some bad ones. In the old days the money was not there to go out and buy loads of players each year. I remember the big news of buying Nigel Martin for a million quid which was never heard of for Palace. Trevor Francis was another big buy back in the old days. My have things changed since then?

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

I haven't been supporting as long as you, due to not being alive! First game was the first Palace game in the old first division against Man Utd 2-2 including Best, Law and Charlton.
The only buys we seemed to get was Scots who Bert Head was keen on. The transfers and attitude of the players has changed greatly, not sure if it is for the better of the supporters. For me the 89/90 team was better than the 79/80 team.
I don't seem to remember the huge pressure on the managers to win and keep buying new players in the old days, it was a more enjoyable supporting them then.

I think it is too early to judge. It may look good on paper and superior to what we have had so far, but, it is league position that counts for me, and "best squad" has to equate to best outcome i.e. league position at the end of the season - I think that is the only objective way of judging it. If we end up getting relegated this season then it certainly won't be the best squad irrespective of who is in it.

I was thinking back to our first spell in the top league from 1969 to 1973, and, in terms of quality, there was no doubt that the 1972-1973 squad was the "best" of that spell, but that didn't stop them from being relegated.
