The man's entitled to a holiday.

Interesting point but should a chairman whose main involvement in the club's activities comes in the closed season, especially when we've just lost our manager, take his holiday in that period or wait until the season starts and he has less involvement on a day to day basis.

A bit like a teacher is also entitles to a holiday - but not in term time

Bit facetious on my part but seemed unnecessary to rake up really.

Doubt his holiday killed the opportunity (if there was one in the first place) but for everybody apart from those charged with running the country or it's security there must be a point where family comes first.

21st May was a Sunday we played Man U.
But maybe you are correct Rudi.
My point is still valid Silva was already nailed on for Watford.

Parish tied up the new deal for Wilf from a boat in the south of France didn't he ? I suspect he has a laptop and stays at nice hotels with wi-fi and despite being abroad with his family is constantly connected to all things Palace on a day to day basis.

Remember the bedwetting back in the summer when Parish failed to secure Silva in the few days he was a free agent?

Seeing what has happened over the weekend - I think we can say we missed a bullet there. Had we managed to get him last summer he'd have wanted off at the first opportunity. With Watford's owners citing a lack of focus since Everton's approach I have to say it feels great having a focused top manager at Palace in Roy in place for the second half of the season.

Agreed.
He really should have come out straightaway when Everton made their interest known and said that he was committed to Watford.
It has been downhill since then.
Regardless of that one can only hope that Watford get their comeuppance for the way they treat their Managers generally and get relegated!

Same was being said about Pelligrini. That one didn’t work out so well for Soton either.
Two less sticks for the Parish bashers to hit him with.

That's impossible to say and don't forget that he has left Watford in 10th place on 26 points which is better than our position.

Just think if Silva had come to us and performed exactly the same and was sacked with us in 10th place on 26 points and then we appointed Roy we could well be better off than we are now.

Just an alternative way of looking at it.
