Apologies,

I veered away from a response you you back to my original point.

I completely understand your position but I would argue that maybe even (subconsciously) with myself perhaps many fans have seen a lot of drastic change from trying to play attractive football to direct firefighting and the latest episode seems too dramatic, which it probably is, from last seasons 'great escape' to an Ajax/Barca style of total football without any investment of playing staff?

Do also understand with your point that maybe some are stuck in a 'English football' mentality but would argue that again most would want to see a gentler transition to this than an overhaul that sees us losing to nil consistently (not suggesting I know what this would look like or how we could go about it).

Can't argue with that in fairness mate, to be honest it really is the negativity in the stadium that has irked me the most and the abuse by fans on social media directly to Parish/Frank. I do agree that the tactical cluelessness of a Pardew has seemed to traumatise a lot of people though and I thought Parish was included in that so was surprised as anybody when he went for De Boer over a Dyche and even Pellegrino/Silva who were both above FDB on my shopping list prior to his appointment.

Yeah definitely,

To be fair did not know just how radical FdBs 'transition' would be. Don't like Shearer too much as a pundit but he said tonight maybe a compromise is needed. For all the world my anxiety is that FdB will not compromise and we will not make any significant signings if any at all.

I sincerely hope that either talks do take place in which a mutual agreement to buy some players; GK, Sakho a CF at least happens or FdB agrees to address his approach with the current team.

If not I fear that it'll end in tears & obviously the longer it drags out the majority of those tears will be ours!

Big week ahead indeed, all I can hope for know is McGregor/Mayweather to be worth the £20, but I'll stick with the pessimism on this one!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

For me, and I'm not saying this is right, but I don't think a compromise would actually work. As you said, this is a fairly radical change and it begs the question of why we even entertained the idea of Frank if we were to reign in what he was trying to do anyway. I remember it with Van Gaal at United when the fans and media got on his back that they were boring and not direct enough despite the fact they were top of the league - he adapted his style somewhat and played a lot more long balls but the results and general quality of football went downhill from there on in. Of course it's a completely different situation we find ourselves in, but it highlights the potential danger of attempting to mix 2 completely opposite types of football and convincing a manager to train a team in a way that he simply doesn't believe is correct (rightly or wrongly).

The rollercoaster continues and I suppose it's nice for once to be greeted with a fan who completely disagrees on my stance RE Frank but appears not to have fully lost the plot yet.

One things for sure, I think Frank himself must be fairly surprised at the madhouse he's just become a resident of.

Agree completely also RE signings - a first team GK has been a must for years but it seems that Hennessey decides to turn up for 1 or 2 games a year and all of a sudden it's enough to conclude the situation isn't as desperate as all initially felt.

Yep with you mate, some morons on this sight don't know there born , they haven't watched.palace on a cold wet Tuesday night playing out a 0-0 in front of 4,900 fans, dross football at its best!! There was no internet social forums in those day, we just moaned to each other, saying I'm not coming anymore, but the following home game, there we were again, this is the most successful period in palaces history, people would do well to remember this.

Exactly. This was not even remotely close to being the worst Palace performance I've watched.

This is the same team that has struggled for 18 straight months. Over the last four years we've had two good half seasons, and two runs of 5-6 games where we played well. The rest of the time under all our managers in the PL we have been mostly crap.

Even under Sam we only had one short spell of good results, and ended the season losing 4 of 5. Yet people seem to think this is all about the new manager. I don't pretend to know what the future holds for FDB but any problems on the pitch have exceptionally deep roots. He may not be helping the situation with his attempts to get us running before we can walk, but I doubt Mourinho could get a tune out of this lot right now. Just look what happened when Sahko got injured: we went to s***.

Last, it took Sam 10 games to get us going, along with about 40m of new players on top of Sahko. PVA looks poor, not sure what happened to Schlupp, two of our best players are injured, Cabaye and MacArthur are just returning from injury, and people still blame the manager.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

2009/2010. Crystal Palace 0-4 scunthorpe. Yes, scunthorpe & yes at Selhurst - if I remember correctly the away fans were in the Arthur and times like that sitting in Holmesdale were just utter humiliation. I'm not even one of the older generation and I can remember a lot more desperate times than this - don't get me wrong it was bad but the hysteria is unbelievable this season. What we all would've done for a Frank de Boer/Sammy Lee partnership then with a £30million striker, Yohan Cabaye and a developed Wilf on his way back from injury.

That's a bit of a spanner you've thrown in the works there with the Van Gaal case, that's very interesting and actually I'm inclined to agree.

I think when you throw in something like that it for me anyway highlights the uncertainty of football and that as steadfast as you may be in your opinion you never really know what might come of what!

Either way I think that as I said earlier this week is big in terms of the window but also the int'l break will be massive too with regards to the circumstances that could possibly change or indeed not.

I think one thing all can agree on however is I hope that things do change be it fans/players mentalities, new playing staff, tactics etc. & that they change for the better!

Think every fan want FdB to succeed whatever system he plays. But the inspiration, the fighting spirit, making an effort and having a go - it's nowhere to be seen. And quite Frank(ly) deBoer isn't the most inspiring boss during games - someone to fire up the lads out there. You can look at the face of 2nd assistant Sammy Lee that he's hurt and suffering over what he's witness to.
We ARE a roller coaster club, don't want to change that, but this flat lot out on the pitch pretending to be Eagles....I don't know?

I really don't know what I am watching because most of our players are performing like headless chickens. Thank goodness we still have Cabaye and Townsend ... at the moment anyway.

I am thoroughly unimpressed with FDB and can only see his appointment ending in tears. After last year's dismal start, I was hesitant about buying another season ticket even though I've had a score and more in succession but I cannot continue to turn up to watch this dross every week.

I could never boo the team or chastise individual players for their lack of effort but I am disappointed and fatigued by their continued abject displays and cannot see where we'll get any points this season.

Hang on, are you backing up the OP who originally was trying to tell football fans to stop insulting a chairman, manager & players who are embarrassing their club, by referring to them as morons?

To further highlight your confusion, to start a season by losing all three games, two of which to supposed relegation candidates at home, having scored no goals and signing one player (excluding two LOANS) who quite frankly looked as up to the task as the manager, is not our most successful period in history.

Previous seasons have passed now and the present is all that is relevant, you and others who want to press this 'most successful period in history' are wasting people's time it's irrelevant now.

To further highlight your confusion, I and I think a number of others on here did not start glory hunting with Palace a few years ago, in fact I remember going alone after work to see us losing 3-0 at home to Swansea about 7,8 years ago or something on a rainy weekday, I highly doubt you were there!

Closing statement: ignorant post!

Tell you something son...the geezer your calling out saying his post is ignorant, has seen more crap with Palace than over the past 50+ years than can ever imagine.

We have started bad.long season to go.

7/8 years ago you saw a rainy game midweek,at home was it,home by 11pm, tucked up in bed with your Horlicks....try going round the country,to god forsaken places in the 70/80/90s midweek,( most weeks ) getting back at 6am the following morning and going straight to work..to see the Palace lose.

Collier Row Eagle, may have long pockets and short arms, never BRINGS CASH,needs a weeks notice to get it up now....but one thing he aint is ignorant and confused over The Palace

Best supporters in the prem?

Do me a favour.

Window not even shut, two defeats and already the numptys on here are screaming for blood.

After today it's just turned to a baying mob.

I'm ashamed to be connected to people on this forum who are dishing out disgusting insults and personal abuse to a manager of our club even at this early stage. What is the matter with you?!

Yes, today was awful but what knid of supporters do this club have?

All this talk of 'DNA' 'Cheese head' F****** C**** - my God get a grip and just have a look at yourselves!

We are 3 points from 14th place with the window still open and a frantic last few days, inevitably, before it closes. It was always going to be like that.

I can tell you this: I will support the manager because he hasn't been given a chance yet. We have absolutely no idea what is going on in terms of the training ground or transfers.

You panickers make me laugh. A few good results and you'll be talking about Europe. Have a word with yourselves.

After the window shuts, the season settles down and we are in November, then I'll be looking at what the situation is.

In the meantime. Good on you Frank, and the players.

I don't care what anyone else writes. I'm Palace and will support Frank De Boer for some time yet.

Now I expect some one will, no doubt, call me a F**** C*** and spread the hate.

Come on - bring it on!

Sorry, but November will be a bit too late and it rather looks it is FdB and SP who who have no idea about what is going on at the training ground or transfers. If they did, we would not be in this mess. I don't like losing but I can take it if we play well and know what we are doing. At the moment,
the Team appears to lack either and why not have any transfer business carried out in good time rather than end up participating in the last frantic days that you refer to ? I will not call you a FC it is disrespectful and you clearly have the good of the Club at heart but I do not think that we can just sit back and let things linger until it is too late.
