Superb for Southampton and a Euro winner only just over a year ago. One bad game for West Ham and suddenly he's 'past It'...

Would be a very expensive panic buy (he's surely after a last big pay day, West Ham know we're a bit desperate and would fleece us) for a player who can't be a much better option than our current raft of CBs (Dann, Tomkins, Riedewald, Fosu-Mensah, Kelly, Delaney). Unless the player is clearly a massive improvement like Sakho, I don't think we need to add to our CBs, especially as such a move would imply we're keeping the 5 at the back system...

But we almost certainly need another CB given how injury prone Tomkins is, and we have to discount both Delaney and Kelly (who has alteady let in two goals through costly errors). So we need to pick up a decent CB who wont cots abfortune. But Fonte certainly isnt the answer. Wasnt there a rumour a while back about Vranges? He wouldnt cost a fortune and has a lot of experience. Not sure though whether he's up to PL level tho.

Think it will be a real punt as many decent options have already moved.
