Exactly.

Riedewald had an embarrassing first game, but he's widely regarded as having great potential. While I think now was not the time to be spunking 8m on a promising youngster, suggesting it's money 'down the toilet' is utterly stupid.

I am sure that he, with the support of the team knows he needs to get up to speed.

lol this is comical! The OP has probably seen him play once in his life time and that's the game against Huddersfield. My money is on him having never even heard of him before we signed him but thinks he can call the shots on styles he can and can't play.

Idiot.

Anyone remember the first seasons by Jules, FFS and Jedi? How about the 1st half of AJ's 1st season. Whatever became of those guys?

I'm no tactical genius here but logic tells me we should have our full-backs the more defensive sort, which Riedewald would be perfect for. Obviously allows more attacking freedom for wingers which should let us go back to being a threat attacking whilst also not having to worry as much defensively.

A team of:
4-3-3

Zaha Benteke Townsend
Cabaye Loftus Cheek
Milivojevic
Riedewald Sakho Dann TFM
Hennessey

seems good (on paper).

Quite possible but benching both PVA and Schlupp? I'd say no chance.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I'm not PVA's biggest fan, seems a bit clumsy and loses himself often. The first goal on the weekend his defending was nothing short of pathetic.

As for Schlupp, I'd like to see him be our back up winger as opposed to full back. While he's not the most technically gifted, he's willing to run at the opposition defence relentlessly, loves going forward. Essentially reminds me of a less skillful Bolasie

I think I'd be inclined to agree if it wasn't how good they both were for different reasons in a back 4 at back end of last season.

I think 4 of our solid performers under Sam were PVA, Sclupp, Mila and Tomkins. In the 3-4-3 our worst performers have probably been Tomkins, PVA and Mila, with Schlupp benched of course.

I think that says more about the ongoing Manager situation and formation argument than it does the players. PVA is a top left back and Schlupp is a beast going forward, agreed with you there.

Yes, PVA has so far shown to be a hopeless wing back.

Even if we're going to play 4-whatever, the full backs need to attack some time in the match. PVA and Schlupp can. I think Mensah can. Can certainly do lots of things to a high standard quickly. I don't know on Riederwald. All I know is he can play in that triangle in the left defensive area, in Holland, and has potential.
